By that time, you'll have played a <i>looong</i>, long time as Jack Sparrow already, of course.
Your skills would be reset to 0 again and you wouldn't have any sidequests available either and stuff like that.

I wonder how serious we should be with this whole tavern thing...
Limiting ourselves to just a tavern prologue explaining the rules, a tutorial if you will, might be good enough....?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Ok so NO option to live own life then <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> (means I don't have to worry about ship owned by "player")

Would it be possible to get a menu back like Build 13 had that allows the player to choose a character that isnt:
- Any Jack
- Will Turner
- Elizabeth Swann
- Mr. Gibbs
- etc....................

Just like default and uniques that aren't actually in the movie so to say???

And also will probably need a unique name system

Possible? Certainly. It's even planned; that's what the "Customize Character" button is for. It's just not MADE yet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Cool... it will need to be made as not an optional thing for "Hoist the Colours"

You'd need a default player character to start the storyline with though.
Actually, since you never get to play as that default character, outside of the tavern part, it wouldn't matter what he looks like anyway.
Do you have any suggestions for the default character?

Hoist the Colours: Tales of Jack Sparrow

This is my suggestion. Burning Brig is too much Piratesahoy! and I think that the influence of the forum should be restricted.
The orginal plan was to keep most of the storylines free from forum oddities. And put all the stuff from that into the Devlin quests. I like the quest ideas and am all for it. But I think we should tone down the piratesahoy! members and stuff.

I think I have to agree with that. Too much forum-stuff is going to be a bit weird. Would be nice to limit ourselves for the most extent to movie stuff,
as well as the stuff beyond the movies and a bunch of what-if scenario's.

Would it be possible to move the forum-stuff from the Jack Sparrow storyline to the Devlin storyline?
That way, we would take over Turks in Early Explorers and we could be found in all storylines on that island. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

It would be possible but make a lot more work for me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
I do think however that all forum related quests (minus one = Sao Feng) should be kept in line with that track of the quest.
The player likes how there is multiple twists and turns that the player can take in finishing the quest, removing the forum members will remove a whole bunch of different lines that the quest can take.

My suggestion is to just add some dialog in the Jack Sparrow quest saying how "we" lost the island after the Devlin Storyline and then we recapture it during Jack's early days.
That way we can have us taking Turks in Early Explorers with Devlin's help and just have us going back to reclaim what is ours in Jack Sparrow!

For the tavern scene I'm thinking "50FatJack" will tell the entire story <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Oh wait... for Sao Feng, the enemies are Burning Brig dudes. Oh well, not many people will pick up on that one anyway. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

What other forum-related quests ARE there then? It's basically the whole Mings route, isn't it?
And I can understand that separating that to the Devlin storyline would indeed be quite a lot of work.
Actually, since an alternate non-forum route is available for that one, I think it's quite fine.
But let's keep additional forum content somewhat limited...

Yep <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

So how do you like the idea for Turks being "captured" by another groups of pirates for the start of the storyline but us taking it back either while Jack is working with us or after Jones consults with Sparrow?

That probably makes more sense, but I wouldn't make that a priority issue if I were you. Unless you really want to do it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I think my priority will remain with my sidequests (still havn't finished Jocard) and then hopefully I can start on DMC <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

That sounds good. As far as DMC is concerned, I'm planning to help you with the locations,
but I first want to have the Different Flags pennant-work done and my location-specific loading screens AND the next update.
And maybe trying to seperate some more of the DR for a future update as well. So it'll be a while until I get to the location-work... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Thats fine... means I can take my time on the Misstress Ching sidequest <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Indeed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

About that tavern scene:

My idea is that you start with some generic player model not related to movie at all. The storyline starts like this:
You have just arrived to port Tortuga, let's say to sell some goods. It's late night outside. You start standing at the end of the pier (like Nathaniel Hawk after the tut from Malcolm). Since it's late, the store and everything except the tavern is closed, so you go to rent some room but there is no vacancies. "Aghh! bad luck". So you order a mug'o rum, and set for the night in the tavern hall. You look for a seat but only find one friendly fellow in whole the tavern who let's u join him and that's - Mr. GIBBS! (well he is the main storyteller in the movies u know <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> and he did remain in Tortuga in the end of AWE movie). You ask if he knows somethin interesting and then he starts his story of adventurous pirate that is Jack Sparrow...

The idea is that we don't know what will happen with Jack in his search for Fountain of Youth or something, and after we know that, we could expand the story further by making Jack appear at the tavern in search of Gibbs, but ending up telling the story himself.

As for the name for the storyline, what do you think about "He's a pirate" or "Take what you can - give nothing back" although I prefer the first one <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

I certainly like your Mr. Gibbs idea. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Thanks, that one idea "shot" in me head after reading about storytelling concept, got a bit brain trained with the setting <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

That is maybe a better idea, since in AWE. Gibbs remains on Tortuga, while Jack goes on. A very good idea!
And about the storyline with the forum members. If you just rename or replace some characters, the stories won't have to go.
