[SPOILERS!]Pirates Of The Caribbean: At Worlds End

Nice skin! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

that does look more like the Dutchman. but, it should use the reskinned sails that the reskinned galleon had before. those make it look more like the dutchman instead of the ripped sails.

AYE! AMAZING!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
There are full sails that come with it. They look almost black, but closer inspection reveals that they are indeed a very dark green.

EDIT: Vandeckern, are you going to do a "New Dutchman"? That'd be cool!
If so, the hull would be a dark brown and the faces on the gunports trimmed in gold. The trim on the rails, bow, and stern would also be gold. Other details would be black, like whales between decks, channels, etc. The masts could be stock game, no changes needed and if you went as far as the sails... a dirty set. Not so golden but more dirty and gray/brown.

Well, would be nice if I got to watch the movie first though... heh. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> But I guess studying for exam finals must supersede all other duties. bllech. I will tackle the new Dutchman once I watch the movie and am able to get good close-up pictures. Dang, this movie sounds AWE-inspiring, cant wait to watch it.
If only a modeller would come and fix all the discrepancies like the gun amount and add all the details that make the Dutchman what it is (like the scythe-wielding figure head and those triple-guns)... well, then!

The shots of the new <i>Dutchman</i> are either brief, far out, or moving fast... so there's not really an ideal shot that moves close and slow. To really get an accurate look means to get the DVD and pause it. But this is what I gathered from the movie while watching. I'm going again sometime this week and will probably be taking plenty of notes on uniforms, ships, locations, etc... all for our B14! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

lo lads, how did you like the scenes between barbossa and sparrow with the binoculars??? I loved it... so classical freudian humor... it doesnt get any better than that... :p

Mines Bigger... ARG! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

Aye. That was funny.

Woah woah woah... nobody move... where's my brain?

I liked it when Beckett was complaining "Bloody hell, there's nothing left!" I can see Jones snickering aboard his ship as Beckett whines...

i think it's a bit too brown. it should be more greenish. but maybe that's just the lighting. apart from that, it's certainly better than the other one!

by the way, i found quite a few pictures of the dutchman during construction and on-set. but didn't you see those already?

Finally! I've seen it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

For some technical info:

Apparently, the <i>Endeavour</i> is the ship of the same class as the <i>Dauntless</i>. The main deck looks the same, the stern looks the same, the poop deck looks the same (especially that exposed ship's wheel <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ), the number of cannons also fits, only paint job is slightly different.

Regarding <i>Dutchman</i>, it doesn't have bowsprit. Well, it should have one, but it's broken. Remember about it, <b>Vanderdecken</b> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

the broken bowsprit is exactly what i've been telling everyone all the time. the strange thing is, in persuit of the pearl in DMC, it DOES have one. you can tell my the fact that it has an inner and outer jib.

<!--quoteo(post=197664:date=May 28 2007, 08:48 PM:name=Commodore John Paul Jones)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Commodore John Paul Jones @ May 28 2007, 08:48 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->I've seen the photos of the <i>Dutchman</i> in its cursed form on some Bahama website, but not any of the new one from AWE.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I'm guessing that uncursed <i>Dutchman</i> exists only as CGI ship.

<!--quoteo(post=197723:date=May 28 2007, 09:08 PM:name=morgan terror)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(morgan terror @ May 28 2007, 09:08 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->the broken bowsprit is exactly what i've been telling everyone all the time. the strange thing is, in persuit of the pearl in DMC, it DOES have one. you can tell my the fact that it has an inner and outer jib.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Well, yes and no. The original bowsprit is missing (judging from the <i>Vasa</i>, it'd look like the one from <b>Vanderdecken</b>'s version). Instead <i>Dutchman</i> has something like temporary bowsprit. Well, you can see the entire installation <a href="http://www.the-bahama-islands.com/5flyingdutchman010306.jpg" target="_blank">in this picture</a> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

you mean the spike? that might be, but do you see it like that when the dutchman surfaces?

I think that for the game's sake, we need to keep a bowsprit that's just enough to "support" the placement of the jibs, but also keep it short enough to look good.

Yes, I mean the spike, and yes, I can see it when it surfaces.

Also, we can place jib rope locators whenever we like - it doesn't have to be bowsprit.

There was one piece of debris <img src="http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/3382/debrismf5.png" border="0" class="linked-image" /> that I tried to graft onto the ship using TOOL but afterwards ended up w/ a nonexistant model. Perhaps some modeller (me just be lowly skinner <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> ) would be kind enough just to slap it onto the thing and work from there...

<!--quoteo(post=197777:date=May 28 2007, 05:54 PM:name=Kazeite)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Kazeite @ May 28 2007, 05:54 PM) </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Also, we can place jib rope locators whenever we like - it doesn't have to be bowsprit.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Aye, but it would look weird to have a jib that's attached at a weird angle of to what seems to be nothing at all. The <i>Dutchman</i> looks good with a jib and for the sake of keeping to life-like physical appearance, I believe a short bowsprit and single jib would look good.

It'd be really nice if Disney made a POTC Ship Guide like they did with the Star Wars Vehicles. I think that would be ideal as it gives a nice big schematic of how everything should look. I don't understand why they don't just try to make money of this stuff <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> It's good for the fans and its good for the franchise. But ah well. (I know there was a guide about POTC but not purely around the ships. It'd be nice to see all the decks of the Dutchman and Perl)

Enough of my bantering though.

I'll hopefully be getting a bootleg of the film soon (hopefully good quality) so I might be able to help post some screenies <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

A bootleg?! You pirate! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Hey, why wait for Disney to make this book when this community could put some brains together and make it for them? Man, I'd have fun drawing all this stuff.
Blueprints, deck layouts, sailplans, and small drawings of them under sail and in combat! We could do the following (In order of appearance in the films.):
HMS <i>Dauntless</i>
HMS <i>Interceptor</i>
<i>Black Pearl</i>
HEITC <i>Endeavor</i>
HEITC <i>Edinburgh</i>
<i>Flying Dutchman</i>
<i>Hai Peng</i>
<i>Empress</i>
Pirate Fleet
East India Company Armed Fleet

Cool, eh? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
