The Kraken *WIP*

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->This appears quite useful for the death of HMS Endeavour in AWE too.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yeah, I can see the flying pieces of wood but... where's Becket? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

If you can get characters to walk around in the 3D sailing mode...? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

It is looking really good, once you add the Kraken tentacles around the Ship it will look amazing (just need to wait for the model <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />)

Like the look of the Endeavour as well it will kill it quicker as well <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> with explosions as well as cannons ripping it to pieces

Great work <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Actually, the speed of the ship taking damage is something that we can tweak 100%.
At the moment each "tentacle" gives 50 damage, which isn't quite that much.
The Black Pearl needs to hit 150 tentacles before she sinks. The damage value can easily be increased though;
I just kept it relatively low, because for testing purposes, it is annoying if your ship keeps sinking. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

Sounds almost like a maths question: If the Black Pearl can get hit by 150 tentacles before sinking with each tentacle doing 50 damage how much HP does the Black Pearl have all together <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Yes it would be quite annoying to have keep reloading the game cause the ship kept sinking.

I just thought with the Endeavour get it down to a certain HP then have the effect of explosions come in and finish it off?

Haha! I'd like to see the maths exam with THAT question on it! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />
Indeed the Black Pearl DOES have 7400 HP if I recall. The fun thing is that you won't hit ALL of the tentacles,
so you might be able to survive the attack. But only just. I survived it with 1 % hull strength left. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

As for the Endeavour, it'd be preferrable to handle it in a different way; right now it's done by generating floating goods around the ship.
If you use a small enough floating good, it isn't very apparent that they're there, but it's still a weird way for blowing up a ship! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
I agree that there should be a bit of a battle with the Endeavour and then at the end, the ship will explode in spectacular fashion. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" />

Haha lucky you... I remember one science test back in '06 when DMC just came out and our science teacher put a question on animals saying: What group does the Kraken belong to?
of course the answer was none: it is a mythical creature (I can call it what I like) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Yer and I wouldnt mind seeing Beckett go flying off the deck on fire (probably wont happen) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

But even if one of them WAS Beckett, you'd be unable to recognize him.

We all put cephalopod but he said no that is wrong cause it doesn't actually exist <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

How does he know??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
Krakens exist, I'm sure of it. Not certain about mermaids though... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
Freak waves were also considered to be a sailor's legend, but those have been proven now! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

To true!!!!! should track him down and get him to play our lovely Build Mod and have the Kraken set to attack randomally and have him direct sail and once it attacks ask him what do you think that was? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

And because of the lack of tentacles, he just won't know! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

was just wonderin would this be krakenish enough ????

Haha! Cool! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
I wouldn't be able to use that model for my purposes though, because I really need seperate tentacles.
But maybe you could just cut off the tentacles of that model and give them a bit of a curve and a texture.
Personally I don't care if it doesn't look absolutely brilliant, as long as the final result gets the point of a Kraken attack accross.
You never get to really see the Kraken in the movies anyway. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Correction Pieter <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> after getting out of the locker Jack's crew come across the remains on beach.
Is it possible to change say the crashed ship on the island with the Kraken???

Even there you can't see very well what the thing REALLY looks like. Just appears like a blob with tentacles to me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Replacing the ship with the Kraken should be doable, provided somebody makes a Kraken model.
Removing parts from a location tend to be complicated, but they CAN be moved under the ground.
Otherwise, just "pasting" the Kraken over it is also an option.

True, I didn't know what it was the first time I watched the movie.
If we manage to move the ship or "past" the Kraken over the top when you escape for the locker have it teleport you to the island (like the marroonings) and just have that one area and once Ragetti says "Captain we have company" go back to the boat (suggestion)

Sounds good to me, provided we can get the Kraken there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
But for now I'll be happy with some tentacles for my attack. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" />

Is the kraken just misson triggered or is it like a Storm disaster? Will it target other ships? Can you shoot at the tentacles??? I'm just curious...

At the moment I think it needs to be triggered in console.c by removing the // in front of the kraken attack and then pressing F12, not sure, no you can't (no tentacles at the moment <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />)
