Not a Bug Bridgetown fort is undestroyable

No problem - I am just lazy and hoped I just could copy+paste the whole file(s) :D

Made all my changes and Beta 3.3 works fine - but guess what - I still got this no active profile error :D

Have you clicked on the "profile" box in the lower right? That should let you see what profiles you have at least. Starting a new game should also delete any old profiles in that storyline too. Then there is the trusty old "delete the options file" fix.

Already did that all - doesnt help, but with the Beta 3.3 at least this error occurs only with the quicksave, not the normal save, I count this as improvement ;)

I never managed to get it fully fixed. But at least the chance is now reduced.

Also the anchorage for Charlestown is outside so you should be good for large ships as well.

Hi! I have the same problem as the guy who posted here "Bridgetown fort immortal"! The Bridgetown fort is undestroyable! I have the mission to destroy it now and it takes no damage at all. The difference between that guy's problem and mine is that I'm already using the beta 3.3 WIP! Please help!

For the record, I already tried destroying the fort in Turks and it worked just fine. The Bridgetown fort, on the other hand, just seems immortal. No cannon destroyed at all.

Please post your .log files. Can't do much without 'em. Also possibly a savegame.

Did a quick check, but the necessary code IS in place:
Code:
    case "Story_GreenfordAssaultStarted":
       Characters[GetCharacterIndex("Greenford Commander")].Dialog.Filename = "Greenford Commander_dialog.c";
       Characters[GetCharacterIndex("Greenford Commander")].Dialog.BoardingNode = "capture_of_Greenford";

       QuestToSeaLogin_PrepareLoc("Oxbay", "Quest_Ships", "Quest_ship_23", true);
       QuestToSeaLogin_Launch();
       [...]

       LAi_SetImmortal(characterFromID("Greenford Commander"), false);
You can try executing that last line there through PROGRAM\console.c .
Open that file with Notepad and add it below int limit; at the top, then load your game and press F12 to make the fort commander mortal.

It worked! thanks! but still the fort is really hard to destroy! I have the mephisto and 2 ships (class 4 and 5) but still is really hard. The ships don't seem to think like me and although I command them to attack the fort they don't do it like I do. I have all the upgrades for my ship (even the pirate one) and changed the long guns for the other ones that do more damage. Any suggestions on how to efficiently destroy it? haha

:(
In that case, I would still like to see your .log files from before you are auto-reloaded to sea until the actual capture.

@Pieter Boelen I think he is assaulting the fort normally and isn't that code from the storyline? So could it be that before the storyline the commander is immortal because that piece of code hasn't run yet?

He said he has the mission to destroy it. Indeed it is deliberately undestroyable before that time in the standard storyline.

No wonder you had so much trouble with that fort. You need SHIPS, not dinghies. :ship:sail

Class 3! It takes at least 18 pound cannons to hurt it mounted on a hull that can take a LOT of punishment. The Black Pearl is the minimum ship needed.

@Levis is right. I did not trigger the mission properly. I thought I did, I confused with too many saves. The code works fine with no need of the console if the mission is triggered. Sorry fellas. My mistake. Shall I delete this embarrassing post?

All sorts of changes have been made. Especially since before the Beta 3 release.

The jungle fort assault was because the actual sea assault was bugged.
I fixed that some time last year and the sea assault has been reinstated ever since.

If you know the files you edited, keep them and you can use WinMerge to put any changes back in.

This is in B3.4 (Apprentice-Merchant)
In the quest "free the captured old man (Clement)", after talking with danielle and decided to attack Bridgetown, my ship (lyme frigate) respawn at the center of the fort thus, making it vulnerable to cannon shots. Also, I checked the passengers profile and still can see Danielle in the panel (which is not suppose to be in the original storyline). The "remove officer" is currently disabled.

Question: Was this part of the changes made in the latest mod? Do we have to obtain the "professional ship defense" and "professional cannoner" skills before taking the quest? Does having a book on "Attacking Forts" help lessen the difficulty of the quest?

Uhm.. maybe just try it with a bigger ship.. the Lyme is nice, but alone against a fort? No chance. When I was in the story at this part the last time, I had a Bellona Class, and it was still quite hard (my Hull was bout 50% when I destroyed the last cannon)

Moved this to the Bug Tracker so we remember to check this when time allows.

Which game version is this again? And do you have a save prior to going to sea to attack the fort?
