Another Fine Mesh...

so she has animations now? cool! but you do realise we already have a catalina model, right?

WOW! How'd you ever manage to do THAT??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />
Could we not simply replace the normal BeatriceA model with this one?

that's what i was thinking of myself. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> it would seem a good idea to me. if it's not too much trouble, could you make blaze have proper animations as well? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

This is absolutely f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c !
Could you explain how you managed to do that please?...

Just one minor problem : the blade and pistol locators, when you are in fight mode the weapons floats out of her hands.

To anybody who would like to test Christopher Mings' model : don't forget in initModels.c those two lines, or you will have the chicken-wings-bug : <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->    model.sex        =  "woman";
    model.ani        =  "woman";<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

I'll vote for that as well! Thought I personnaly prefer the other Beatrice model, with more cloth...

Pieter and A Simple Virtual Sailor,

I used Blender to raise the arms on the AOP model, assigned its texture, and imported it into TOOL with the "Woman" animation. It took a couple of tries because things just don't line up that nicely on import, and as you point out, the locators don't always wind up in the right place. Another thing, where the model runs all right, (if not a little dorkily...) she has a real "hitch in her git-along" when she walks; her waist does some odd things from the rear-view perspective. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />o) Likewise, her hands don't function properly either... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> I'm still learning the ins and outs of Blender, so who knows, I may get the hang of it eventually. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I may have a copy of the other Beatrice model, but I never bought a copy of AOP, (Thanks Starforce! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dp_nogd.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ng" border="0" alt="dp_nogd.gif" /> ) so I don't have any of the other models from that game to try. (Also, personally I prefer the Beatrice model that looks like she's slipping out of something comfortable... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" /> )

One question though, is there a talking head model for Beatrice? I just used a modified towngirl model that I included in the file so something shows up if you talk to this model.

Lastly, I don't think this model should replace Maximus' Beatrice model, in the game, (I'm right, yes, it was Maximus and Nathan Kell who set these models up for POTC? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> ) a lot of work went into that and this model is just another available option for the game.

AoP characters don't have talking head models at all. Blaze is in Build 13, so you don't need AoP for that.
I don't think Nathan had much to do with the adding of the AoP characters; that's all Maximus' work.
This is the same model, only with fixed animation, isn't it? So in that case I would like to replace it. I'd be rather nice to be able to swim with Beatrice, no? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

Far be it from me to deny you a swim with Beatrice! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" /> I have to admit, I'm still a little surprised that the AOP model couldn't swim on its own, it certainly looked buoyant to me! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

No head model's for AOP models? Good to know! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

A Simple Virtual Sailor's comment above has gotten me thinking; there's got to be a way to adjust the pistol and sword locators in TOOL to where they look better, or are closer to the hands in the adjusted model. The hands still won't actually work, but it will make it look better than it does currently. May have to devote some time to trying this... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Moving locators around isn't so hard, but perhaps they need to be attached to certain body-parts and I don't know if and how that's possible. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Here's a new model; it comes from a source that may be familiar to some of you... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

<img src="http://www.pix8.net/pro/pic/332ZK34H/1105053.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

I named this one after my old buddy Meigger, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> and it is in pretty good shape. The hands on these models are not straightened out like the POTC models do in TOOL, when you use the raise arms feature, but the sword and pistol locators on the hands are not perfect. (Pretty good though... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> ) Also, these models do not have animated heads, so I just used the "searcher" model so something shows up. I also borrowed portraits from JMV575's Royal Navy models because I was too lazy to make my own. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />)

This uniform doesn't really fit in the time period for the POTC game, it looks more late 18th Century, but it looked so cool I figured someone might like it. Let me know what you think... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

Good job... I like it... Might be to use that model as soldier in some towns... With more PotC texture to fit...

I really hate the manga texture, that is what I didn't like of VCO, they said it was a game from around the 16th century, and they use 18-19th century uniforms and ships.

Manga? Huh? Doesn't look quite as Japanese-cartoon-like as AoP does. Looks nice to me. Makes me thing of Hornblower. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
Actually, since we're working on different time periods in the game, we might be able to use him somewhere. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hi,
Another new model from Sir Christopher ......nice one <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> .

Yeah; he looks pretty grumpy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

that's not exactly what i meant. i meant that with those pants he really lookes like some mommies' boy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

Well; that IS what <i>I</i> meant. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

Damski62, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Were you able to do a headswap with a retexture to accomplish that? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> That's amazing, and not just for how quickly you were able to do it! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

He does look a bit grumpy, and for whatever reason, those VC textures are dark! I had to adjust the brightness and contrast on the texture way up and he still looks gloomy! He also does appear to have a touch of <a href="http://www.nickjr.co.uk/shows/wiggles/feathersword.aspx" target="_blank">"Captain Feathersword"</a> about him, but I thought the "Patriots and Emperors" crowd and the Norrington fans might like having a uniform from that time period.

The model actually has epaulettes, but every time I tried to load them with the model they wound up pulling his shoulders down into his sternum. One other thing that bugs me is how the pants "appear" thru the coat, but I guess they do that on some POTC models as well, and I didn't feel like trying to retexture the back of his pants. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

I still think the model looks rather dashing in a "War of 1812" American frigate captain sort of way, but just keep him away from Super Durnius' naked skeleton model. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

Weeeell... He does look pretty weird, yeah, but at the very least we're making progress here and learning to add more models to the game <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

And the reason he looks, well, manga-ish is because of the face texture - VCO is like pirate movie with Korean cast <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
