Build 14 Beta 1

Hmm. there seem to be some small issues. How do I know what port I've arrived to? and how do I bring up the chart? The reason I', asking is because i escorted a merchant to Governor's Harbour, but nothing happens. I tried talking to him in his cabin, but then he instead told me he had seen me fighting with their cap and that now i was the captain (rather odd since i never fought him).

What turns on/off the manual sailing? or is it simply by not using the map function?

Also, one more thing: when I heard the good ole' "Land Ho" I pressed space, and the first thing i see is my ship stompin on ground hard, even thou i pressed space waaaaay out at sea.

F2>Inventory>Maps allows you access to all charts you bought.

Was it Governor's Harbor you should be sailing to? Check your questbook.
Normally, as soon as you set foot in the port you were suposed to escort a merchant to, he'll appear and talk to you.
If not, usually it's bugged and you end up stuck without being able to move yourself.
If neither happens, that suggests you didn't end up in the right port.

DirectSail is always on and works simply by pointing towards your destination and keeping on sailing.

OK, it was the wrong harbour. bloody pain to have to find everything by yourself, makes smuggeling almost impossible. That's another one: Smugglers of Cuba tells me to go to "error".

oh, and if i go to Options, and then in to 'controls' or was id 'advanced', and then press Escape, you cannot resume game, and game CTD on loading a new game. When a mutiny happens, I spawn in the water under the boat, on the same spot as the crew. Maybe I should install from clean?

EDIT: Ok, the smugglers at Puerto Rico (still trying to sell off that ale load for a profit) told me to meet them at Oyster Beach. When I got there, there was only thugs... Have I missed something?

Unfortunately, all of those are known issues that we haven't yet been able to fix, so reinstalling isn't likely to solve them. :(

See our Bug Tracker: http://forum.piratesahoy.net/tracker/project-1-pirates-of-the-caribbean-new-horizons/

Turns out I was to eager to play the new build that I forgot to install the patch :facepalm

Still a little buggy thou. just gotta keep an eye on the Bug section... Great work all of you! The mod is breathtaking!

I got it! :drunk

Your post might need remodeling. I hit "mirror1" and got another page similar to this one. Hit "mirror 1" again and got a page to patch 4. :nerbz Went back and hit "mirror 2" and got a moddb page and no dl. :nerbz Went back and scrolled all the way down to the bottom and found a small link to patch 5. :mi It's kinda sorta like a treasure quest, but some might not be amused.

Mirror 1 links to the forum's Downloads section, which admittedly isn't too user-friendly.
But if I change it to a direct link, I can't track the number of downloads anymore.

The ModDB page will work fine once the download is authorized.

Now's probably a bad time, but I may have forgotten something: the alpha mapped deck.tga texture. :facepalm
Was that ever uploaded? I've totally forgotten. I can't tell whether it was put into Patch 5, since I already have the file.

EDIT: One other thing, I noticed that you edited the ships_init.c, and some changes I made to various ships' battle interface pics haven't been included.

Not that I know of.

What I did was create a new PotC install and then made a copy of it before I played it. Update and play on one and keep the copy for times like this. I now have a PotC patch 4 install and a Potc patch 5 install. Plus a clean copy.

Ok. No biggie..

But, I'll be damned if there is no Tavern in Havana? :keith

Was it always like that?

There is a tavern in Havana. :yes You just have to go through a lot of town to find it - It is opposite the townhall. :razz

From the Port take 1st right to 2nd section of town - go past the big church to gate on far side to 3rd section of town - go straight ahead - in front of you is townhall on the corner on your right opposite townhall the 1st door is the tavern.

Pieter, you made a mistake on ModDB; you mention installing Patch 4 instead of Patch 5.
Nothing major, but it may cause confusion. xD:

Possible problem. Twice today the controls have gone whakko. Specifically the W,S, and spacebar get all confused and work strangely or not at all. When I fired up the game this morning it was bad, so deleted the "options" folder and redid the settings and it was ok. Just now I fired her up again, and the controls are messed up again. :j3 Is it possible to drop a controls folder from patch 4 in this install to test it?

IMPORTANT FIX!
I moved the Sewer to Saint Martin, but made a mistake which made things worse.
Extract this file to your main game folder, overwriting the existing files. This will properly unflood the Speightstown dungeon.
New game required for the change to take effect. Sorry about that. :facepalm

I vaguely recall you uploaded something, but I didn't do anything with it because I was too confused on the deck textures.
Did you take the original deck.tga from Patch 4 and alpha-map that? Or was it another version. I don't remember. :?

EDIT: One other thing, I noticed that you edited the ships_init.c, and some changes I made to various ships' battle interface pics haven't been included.
I deliberately left that out, thinking that it might be part of your WIP on using screenshots instead.
I didn't know they were fixes. Sorry about that too. :facepalm

In any case, if you can, feel free to put your additional content and fixes,
along with mine from above in a file and post that somewhere as well.

Is there any way to get them saves working after patch?
It's possible to force savegames to work, but I don't recommend it:
several changes won't take effect unless you start a new game, including the loading screen project.
If you don't start a new game, all loading screens will display black. :facepalm

Oops, I did it again. Thanks for catching: fixed now. :doff

The only thing I did was to change "dialog option up" and "dialog option down" to W and S, thinking that might make more sense.
Personally I'm not used to it, but it was suggested by another member and I thought it was worth a try. Shouldn't mess things up though.
However, you can restore PROGRAM\CONTROLS\DefaultControls.h from Patch 4 and remove the options file and things should be as normal as they were before.

Ok, I'm three for three with messed up controls with this install. It's possible that this is another hangover from that lightning strike, and files got scrambled.

I can see the logic of moving those buttons. I'm not used to it, but it saves moves. I have problems caused by old injuries that makes me want to use the right hand as much as possible, but this is certainly more efficient.

Edit: New install from cd. No problems with controls. Deleted old install.

Edit 11:00: Every time I start the game the controls are FUBAR. Deleting the options folder and then resetting all settings make the controls work properly for that session. Exit and restart and the controls are FUBAR. All files are new downloads with no old leftovers except the ENB file. Tried the defaultcontrols.h from the patch 4 install with the same results. Is this happening to anyone else?

Heh, just have to ask. The red lady in La Tourte harbour - what "purpose" does she have? (i Want her sword!)

Do you mean the one in the Tavern - she is a Captain who will join with you - read what she says very carefully. ;)

If after sailing with her for a while you decide to end the partnership & not pay her - you will have to fight and kill her. :yes
