Dedicated Bug Reporting Thread BUILD 12

I'm wondering if in fact it _is_ a resource difference _even between Euro installs_, and we added something in the script that calls that resource incorrectly for that version.

Since I believe the start of the Euro problem is a difference in one of the sea textures (where US requires 1 mipmap level, and Euro 4), so it's probably just a crop up of this again.

Hmm. Another thing. If one of you (preferably with the English version, and yet more preferably Sirus_Darke you specifically) could send me a zip of the _stock_ program folder and _stock_ resourceini folder.

I can go through with WinMerge and see where the differences are from stock and work from there.

I've emailed the list, but the EXE and MODULE folders is over 2.5MB RAR'd
Can your PS mailbox handle that large a file?
 
Also the first thing that I did was check the WhrSea.c file for the correct Sea.Bump.MipLevels = 4 line and even tried changing it manually.

This is gettin' weirder by the minute.

If someone with a european version would be so kind as to:
Start a command prompt
change to POTC folder
type:
dir /s > list.txt
and press enter.

Then email me the list.txt file, I can compare it with my install to see what's different.

Also, if someone could email me the Euro Engine.exe and modules folder, I'd be much obliged.

In fact what I'd really like is if someone with a working Euro install could email me those files; and _also_ you Sirus_Darke, because the same steps (!) aren't working for you.

Back in June Scheffnow was working on localization problems. I still have some stuff he wrote about it. Would it help if I mail you that?
Do you still need any localized files /directories? I have the English (Ubisoft) version.

Me the same, mate, but this doesn't matter. Be happy, if your game is running. Look into your `game-folder`, you will find a readme right there.
 
Ok I have the U.S. version and can't get the build 12 to run. When I run it I get the build 12 menu that flickers for a few seconds than a black screen and have to `alt-tab` out.

Anyways this is with a clean install of POTC. Before I installed build 12 I tested POTC and it worked fine. Then I installed build 12 (I downloaded the installer from this site). Both installs went fine without errors. I've done this twice now and both times I still get a black screen.

The second time I tried using the B12temp.exe and pointed were POTC is installed. Clicked 'Yes to all' to replace files. Then it informed me I did not have a localized version. Then I ran POTC and got the black screen of death again.

You could try installing Build 11 over a clean POTC installation and then installing Build 12.
This has worked for some people, but not for everyone.

One suggestion for those people where the game flickers and then goes black.
That is because the device is lost and can't be restored by the gameengine.
However it seems that if you running the game in "Not_FullscreenModus" the game engine is able to reset the device.
Go <b>manualy</b> in your engine.ini and make sure that there is the line:
full_screen = <span style='color:red'>0</span>

Installing 11 build and 12 build didn´t work for me...

What you should do, is the following:

-Anchor you ship and walk into town.
-Save Artois (or let Nigel kill him)
-Go to the tavern and talk to Ines. (The barkeep lady)
-Go outside and you'll be approached by a guy, who wants to talk about Rheims...

You're done! No bugs!

So, i took the torture of the installation on me!
Clean install of PotC.
Running of Build12.exe.
Switched on: Build 12, Extra Textures, Euro Support
After about an hour -> unable to open buildsettings.h.
Rollback? -> NO!
Manually opened buildsettings.h -> changed EURO = 1
Started -> new game -> black screen
opened engine.ini -> switched tracefilesoff = 0,debuginfo = 1,runtimelog = 1
started again -> rödelrödelrödel.... -> canceled process stormengine2
the old thing -> cant find Usurers.c
copyed usurers.c from PROGRAMCharactersGermaninit to PROGRAMCharactersinit
started again -> rödelrödelrödel.... -> canceled process stormengine2
the old thing -> cant find Items Trader.c
copyed Items Trader.c from PROGRAMCharactersGermaninit to PROGRAMCharactersinit
started again -> no problems

If there is an problem to run build 12 maybe that it's an hardware or driverproblem.
If the game goes black in mainmenu, maybe that the texture is to big (me 256 MB VRAM)
I really don't know further...
 
I tried setting full_screen = 0. It still didn't work the only thing that changed was I couldn't `alt-tab` out and in the compile log the line:

"The method call is invalid For example, a method's parameter may have an invalid value Present"

is listed only one time as opposed to 781 times. When I get time I'll try doing the fresh install over build 11. Thanks though.
 
Emrep, have you tried the proceedere with the step installing built 11 before built 12? With this step my game was running. (ohne rödelrödel <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> )
