Flag Locators Repair Project

That's great news! TOOL's a double edged blade: wonderful when it works, and a pain when it doesn't. This is one of those wonderful times. :cheers
Nice touch leaving the pivot guns on; I thought about those and hoped you would. ;)

I can just see Legendary_Spider nagging me about the Constitution now. It was only earlier today that I told him on ModDB I had no idea how to export through Maya... :facepalm

Pffft. Someone's gotta keep you on your toes. haha

The Crimson Blood kicked my ass. I hope you appreciate it Morgan Terror. :j1 Only 2 more to go, but these old mark1, mod 0 eyes are burning. I'll pass for now on the cursed corvette.

My computer has been on an automatic maintenance program for years, and it has always been ok, until May when I started working with TOOL and GMViewer a lot. Then it was like a grenade went off in the hard drive. Now there is an always on defrag utility running and it defrags 1-3 times a day. :nerbz

you know, regarding the CB, i dunno about that thing. it was a kludgy job for a one-off ship used in a single quest which i haven't even been able to find yet. i prefer the pirate corvette myself, which served as it's base. but that's really a problem that's got nothing to do with this bug. do you think your problem might have something to do with it's custom mast color?

Doesn't sound good. How old is the hard drive? and maybe look at using something like CrystalDiskInfo (a good free hard disk analysis utility) to get a sitrep on the state of the hard drive, just in case it is about to give up the ghost?

The Crimson Blood is done. It was just staring at all of those little numbers that wore me down. Because of the black masts and spars I had to copy all of the settings from the one I had already done. That other one is already done and is on the FTP in a zip file. Check it out. :drunk

My method is to do all of the sails and rigging first, and then just copy it from ship to ship. The first ship might take 2 days, but the next one might only take an hour. The last one in this series is the PO_FastNavy, the Portagee light frigate with lateens. Then comes the fastmerchantman , the NL_merchantman, and maybe the cursed corvette.

I will get that utility. It can't hurt to check it out. The hd is 3 1/2 years old and it came with this puter. The first thing I did was get an 80gb hd for windoze and its utilities. This 500gb one is for the important stuff. I also have a 1.5tb external backup that only has a few hours on it. Ya know, I've never actually lost a hd. I still have the very first hd I got, that came in a 1991 IBM. Hehe. 256mb. The cpu was 34mhz. Ah, the good old days.....

I have an old Tandy 5 meg hard drive from the early 80's setting in my garage. It was actually toast a long time ago, but a very cool peice of hardware! MFM controlers, now those were fun days!! :woot

I have been toying with the idea of moding it and putting a Micro-ATX board inside with one of those new AMD Fusion CPU's. :cheeky

Ok, back on topic ...Fantastic work on the locator's mates, well done! I have tried many times playing around with Tool and Maya and GM Viewer over the years. I can work out most of the basics, but actually being able to do anything useful with them is well over my head. :facepalm

The Crimson Blood is only used in one place in the game: In the Animist quest copy of the Jack Sparrow storyline, replacing the Mefisto.
She's special in a way, because you can swap the Black Pearl for the Crimson Blood
and the whole story will play as "The Curse of the Crimson Blood" instead.
Has anybody recently tried doing that?

Tandy? That's Radio Shack. Before I got the IBM I had a Commodore 64. No hd and I bought it in 1983. Do you know they are making Commodore 64s again with modern guts? Retro!

Black Bart: I got that doodad and it says both hds are fine. Years ago I had a game that would explode the hd. After every session with it I HAD to do a defrag. That's what I'm thinking here.

Armada: I've been kicking back just sailing around and noticed that either I'm a giant or the crew are midgets. Did you mess with the camera? Now is the time to fix it.

Pieter: I had no ideer........

I didn't touch it. I just copied the locators from the high detail model over to the one I exported through Maya. :?

Yeah, I saw that a while back! I thought about picking one up for the hell of it, but decided I needed a new graphics card and keyboard instead. I had a C64 as well, but I started out on a Radio Shack CoCo with a tape drive. It's amazing what you could do with 16k of ram and fast forward and reverse buttons! :woot

the crew seems so small compared to the player becasue the player used to be unable to look over the sides of some of the ships. the camera height was raised, but the crewmembers weren't increased in size. they are currently set to the same scale as the ships, since they used to be too big, but it also kinda convenient that they don't get in the way of your vision.

They are actually a good size. I would like to be at their height, but no can do. I could move the camera left and right and forward and backwards, but not up and down. :modding I have adjusted camera height before on a ship by ship basis, so what is wrong here?

We recently did increase the camera height altogether do you can see over the railings better.
It's possible to do it on a ship-by-ship basis, which would technically be better, but more work.
So we did a general change to start with, but it's up for debate. Comments appreciated. :doff

So THAT's why I've been seeing ridiculously high cameras recently! And I was worried sick that it was my fault somehow. :facepalm
Well, as the others have pointed out, this affects some ships pretty adversely, and you're just too high above the deck.
On some ships which have open gun decks, like the Victory, you're still looking at the top deck when you're meant to be below deck. Very odd.
Looks like we have some corrective work to do now. Just don't adjust the global setting again, or we'll have to re-do the corrective work already re-done. If that makes sense.

Considering the hours I have already wasted on this.....................

And i just thought "my crew must be Umpa Lumpa's" ;)

How would it be if we set the global fix back to 'normal', then let each ship have it's camera level set, as it seems this has been done on some already, and while the awesome ship modders are sorting out the GA problem they could look to set this as well? I'm not sure what the original problems were with this, but looking through the gunports below deck AND being able to see over the top deck sounds bad!

what's with the lateen'd corvette? is it supposed to be a polacre or something?

That is the Fragata Latina, a Portagee light frigate. (PO_FastNavy) It's been in POTC for as long as I've been around. It makes an excellent escort ship. It's not as fast as the the square sail ships but can go quite deep into the wind. I've been working on it for 2 days now and can NOT get that lateen to work right. :modding
