Flying dutchman light things

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> I tried and it wont work. You cant ad character moddels to a ship, the game creshed.. I even replaced a mast with a skeleton and it just won't work..
can it be because of the animations or something?
 
In that case you can try to save the character model as VRML, then import the VRML and save it as GM again but this time with the "Ship/Item/Location" checkbox checked. This probably WILL cause the inverted lighting issue, but that would be a small price to pay for having the Dutchman's figurehead. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
 
I just tried it with the Black Pearl, but no luck yet. I took the Black Pear's GM file, exported it to VRML, then imported it back in the TOOL, but that resulted in the model being rotated 90 degrees to stand on her stern. So I suppose the model should then be rotated back, which CAN be done, but I don't know how to. Hopefully somebody else can try to continue the experiment. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
No luck on that one for me. For some reason that option doesn't show up on my laptop. It's probably got something to do with my resolution or Windows Vista or something, because I KNOW that option IS there, I just don't see it. Extremely crazy. Did you have any luck with re-exporting the Black Pearl?

yes that was weird. I have the same problem if I enlarge the tool screem thing. and about re-exporting eh.. no, the game crashed...
and about the skeleton, i have to rotate the locators because the model rotates 45 degrees at once.
 
About the game crashing: Did you get to select the model for the collision data? You should select the original GM file. Also make sure to write the locators of the original GM to a file, then read them from that file after importing the VRML file. In the conversion process the locator data is lost, so you need to add it again. Otherwise the game will crash.

maybe you should just try to make a figure head from scratch. it's more work, but might turn out far better.

of course, that's what I do, skinning.. I dont make them myself, i want to but i dont have 3ds max <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> ...
and if there's someone else making a dutch battleship, we use the best one(mine <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> )

Morgan is a bit confused. I made a dutch Frigate <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> not Battleship.
