Cheers for that jack <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> with all the uni work at the moment, ive struggled to get it done

I WILL do the barbossa scene today though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks to you both for you work. No need to hurry; we're not in a rush. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

No problem - Like the clips they are good quality.

What about the aspect ratio of the clips though? Do we want them in fullscreen and rescaled horizontally like they are now? Or would we prefer to have them in the original widescreen? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Personally, either should be ok, but everyone has a different screen size, full screen would suit the game better than widescreen, because the game movies are also full screen

and i have uploaded the next video 'Barbossas speech' (see links in previous posts))

Thanks very much. Let's keep it at fullscreen then. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

O.K. I have done an edit and put it in my program for a test - I like it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
I have uploaded to ftp site (SJG Mod for NOV COTBP1) and (Mainly for Pieter) have added the extracted program lines for it to run in the game.
(Although the video is there if you just want that)

To me it fits very well, and syncs well with Wellman's approach to the player in the game. (I clipped front and back to show Jack only).
It didn't clear the Murtogg Mullroy issue but I have included in the extract a "fix" (using the term loosely) which does make the chapter work as intended.

As an observation: I think it makes a good prequel to the CotBP story.

What makes a good prequel to the CotBP story? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
I tried your files ingame and Jack's entrance seems to work pretty well. It becomes especially cool with <i>a simple virtual sailor</i>'s <b>changed camera viewpoint during dialog</b> mod. I made a screenshot of the thing you see just after the movie finished playing. Pretty good, no? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
Murtogg and Mulry remain mute. The reload to location apparently did nothing to fix that. Worse still, previously I could talk to a random citizen and after that the Murtogg and Mulroy encounter would proceed as intended, but now that won't work anymore either. I do have Murtogg chasing me all around Redmond port though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Major thanks to Short Jack Gold, Bartolomeu o Portugues and Jezus! The CotBP quest is becoming really pretty good! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Pretty good, but the dialog needs some tweaking <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Hey you, it is a shilling to tie up your boat at the dock! And I also need to know your name!
What about 3 shillings and we forget the name, shall we?

How about:
<i>Hey you! It's a SHILLING to tie up your boat at the dock! And I shall need to know your name.
What do you say to THREE shillings and we forget the name?</i>

I think that is the real movie quote. I wonder what we should do with this quest: Use the exact movie quotes as much as possible or take some liberties with the text? The way it is now, there are some direct quotes, some modified quotes and some new text. Personally I would be inclined to use only quotes and new text and only <i>change</i> the quote when the quote makes no sense in the context of the quest.

i agree with pieter. i'd like to have as much movie quotes as possible, unless it doesn't make sense.

The video. Sort of in the same manner as the Invasion movie at the start of the Main Quest.

Murtogg Mullroy - Maybe you need a "new game" start. It works on both my computers, no problem.
DO like the new camera view though.

Re "dialog" no problem except that it should be THREE shillings, not THREE SHILLINGS. In English that double emphasis changes the meaning.
The characters are already talking about shillings. It is the quantity that is supposed to clinch the deal, and requires the emphasis.

Thinking about that again. If Murtogg is following you then the the case section DID trigger as one of the commands in there is for him to follow you to start the conversation.
Maybe you have a dialog error(?)

Perhaps you could send me all relevant files that you have? Dialog included? Just to check we are both using the same code. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Just completed a re-cap on the "Jack Entrance" clip in widescreen/letterbox (it has a less stretched look than the original). The video resolution (640x384) and codec (WMV8) match the current videos in the game.

This re-cap cuts out the first 30 seconds or so of the Elizabeth/Nathaniel scene - and starts with the Sparrow scene. I let it run through the "THREE schillings" dialog, as there wasn't a good cut point that didn't look/sound strange to me. It's also been filtered a little to clean up the edges (the video now stretches to the edge of the horizontal screen), intensified the lighting a little, and de-blocked some small artifacts.

A screen cap is attached below.

Files are on the POTC FTP in the KevinAtlanta folder.

Files are also available here in your browser:
<a href="http://www.pafiles.com/potc/KevinAtlanta/" target="_blank">http://www.pafiles.com/potc/KevinAtlanta/</a>

Feel free to use these or not. If you like, I can re-do the other 2 clips as well (Barbossa and Swan Dive) in this same format.

UPDATE: Added the "Swan Dive" and "Barbossa Speech" clips in Wide Screen / Letterbox format also.

kevin

PS - thanks to Jezus for the original rip.
