Mod Release Gentelmen of Fortune! v1.2 Full Release Patch 1.0 FAQ/Bugs/Installing

To All = Make sure you all update you video cards drivers to the latest and update direct X to Direct X 11. That solved my CTD problems. This will solve most of your problems I suspect but 1.2 will be even better. We have tested the current patch extensively and the one we are about to release is being tested even more.

Fair sailing!

Oh what a shame I think I can't update to Direct X 11 WinXP simply don't support it or am I wrong, also unsure if my NVidia GTX 260 supports DX 11? So you mean all the CTD causing by the "start.exe" are fixed then?

I'm not absolutely sure but the "Line Frigate"... I had some problems to fire the cannons more than once and in all occasions I had plenty of powder and ammo so that's not the problem.

I also aimed in 1st person view at the enemy vessel (red crosshair) still the cannons won't fire. I moved the ship to be able to fire from the other side and there it worked.

In another battle quite the same with the exception I wasn't able to fire the cannons at all. Was a sitting duck there.

Aslo I got stuck in 1st person view but only once so that seems to be a onetime oddity.

Am I the only one haveing this issue with the "Line Frigate"? (GoF v1.1)

Thanks all for the info and also the link to the starting position fix.
:cheers

Hi Guys,

great mod...

However I've been finding various bugs, some were already reported others I couldn't find an answer to...

So,

1 - Humphrey Douglas is missing the musket, check figure

2 - Clouds in world map are quite square (so to speak)

3 - You can bash through a ship, kill most of the crew and when boarding they don't surrender

Any solutions???

regards
Can't wait for the next patch!!!!!

Just a quick question
Was the double musket quest fixed in gof 1.2???

After installing patch 1.1 the Vers. still show me 1.0
Bug or correct?
We all have that mate no problem. It's just the "_mod" file (don't have the correct name at the moment) the text for the mod version is 1.0 in there and wasn't changed to 1.1 so most probably you are playing 1.1 if you patched correctly.
:yes

Having the same issue with the "Line Frigate". The funny thing about it is that it only fires from a specific angle. If you don't get the angle right it won't fire at all.
Would be nice if somebody could look into it.
I also noticed that you officers and partners won't grapple an enemy ship. Always have to do it by myself sheesh :cheeky (Though I am not really sure if this is intended or not)

Having also trouble completing a mission(not really a bug but don't know what to do anymore).
I started as a pirate and took a mission in Bermuda and got directed towards Proto Principe. There i got the mission to escort a guy to Port Royale. Problem is that I am a pirate and everytime I get near Port Royale I'm getting shot. I also tried to change my flag but get detected everytime. Would be nice if someone has a tip.

So far I really like the mod keep up the good work guys :onya

Either buy an English trade licence or patent from the Diplomat in a pirate settlement Tavern.

Or sail to a beach near Port Royale and go into town throught the jungle - avoid the soldiers in town as they will attack you.

You also need an expensive english trading license,
You can buy it from a diplomat in every pirate tavern

Hello,

Just installed GOF 1.1 this afternoon, over a fresh install of COAS v3.0. For some reason I only seem to have 38 characters listed in the menu, not the 46 listed in the mod description. is this normal or is my install corrupted?

I have a problem with this mod:
after i install it i can't change the resolution, i try with the config.exe and engine.ini but it's always something like 800x600.
With coas vanilla it worked.
What do i do?
Sorry for my bad english.I am not a native english speaker.

Thanks to you too Talisman :).

Well, first of all, thank you for this great mod.

Now the bigger the shipps, the bigger the problems.

Several frigate types (including the standard frigate) don't seem to have clipping for the body. Allmost impossible to damage/sink. Damaging the dails works thou.

I've got me a dutch Soleil Royale - one mean sonofasquid, 1500+ sailors - and i'm losing crewmembers like never before. I've lost threehundred men against an empty ship (6 ppl on board before boarding). Something's seriously messed up there!

I don't know how you perceive this, but the bigger the ships get, the more damage i get to sails and rigging. A 3 on 3 confrontation usually ends up with six naked bathtubs floating in the water.
Then the problem of sinking a capital enemy ship kicks in. My skill is at hundred now, but i still had to use over sixthousand shells... sorry, balls to sink one big pot. Over a certain distance, agreed, but well ... it seemed a bit unreal and rather annoying
I don't dare to fiddle with the damage setting (at "between" now), because i am kinda fond of my sails, wich would be the first victims.

[EDIT]
Yes, it's exactly that - if you gun the enemy down to the last man before boarding, then you're gonna lose around 300 of 1500 crewmen to that empty ship.
Math glitch?

And one more thought: Technically speaking it's not so much a pirate game ...it's "Grand Theft Sailing Ship".
I know this is part of the original gameplay. But maby it is possible to do something about it?
There's just too much money in the ships, compared to the freight. And you don't have to ransack a ship - you can allways get the cargo by getting the whole ship.
I don't really see a way out either but maby someone else has an idea...

Yeah, i get the same problem.I fight with 10.000 Cannonballs and after this 6 Ships without sails and mast on the water but i can´t sink them.

Another one: This "class 4" ship looks very expensive, bug or not?

and my "Anamaria Problem":

This girl make me crazy. On every place in the caribbean where i go - she is also there and ask me a thousand times for a deal. I fire her a long time ago out of my team and now she is my personal stalker xD: how can i stop her?

Especially the Line Frigate (class 4 ship) seems to have the bug that you can't fire the cannons works only by random and some prices seems to be a little off... to high or to low in general... If you ask me.

Hehe it's not bad to have a cutie run after you matey xD: ... seriously I haven't come across that bug though.

Bug?
Don't know it might be a vanilla bug since I've completed maybe 3 times the task to get rid of the smugglers I asked one of them to trade with me and at the location I met them all get slaughtered... mission done I'll get the reward, reputation up.

Now comes the bug, I get the mission again and again (that's okay) I talk to the smugglers, they won't work with me again... (that's okay too) I search the island by day and night and I simply can't find them, I hit the time limit and fail to complete the mission.

My guess is that if you ask the Smugglers to trade with you and kill them a couple of times later on they simply don't appear on the island (connected to your cheating upon them) even if you are given the mission by the Governor?

I would try this: Be nice and go along ...then sink her.ass...

About the smugglers, it's not the bug. If you tricked them too many times you will have to reconcile with them. Talk to the Diplomat to fix the "problem".

Aha very interresting and helpfull, thank you very much.

i'm having a rather strange problem... my men don't die (allthough they obiously want to).
You might think "Now he's lost it", but now i play 3 levels above my last game (the one with the 300 lost men against an empty ship). Level's Captain now and i don't lose one single sailor in any boarding action.
Small fights - overwhelming odds against me - all the same: My men are legion and i normally don't even manage to reach the first enemy before they are done killing stuff... i'm not even bothering with grapes anymore.

This starts to become a problem, mostly because my men don't really appreciate being alive.
No fluctuation, no moral boost through fresh blood. My leadership doesn't want to increase and those dogs won't die. Moral is miserable and mutany at hand

Is this some kind of a lady bonus? (started as spanish grrrl)

Well that I have seen as well. But the other way around too The enemy ship had 1 man left while my +400 board the ship, the outcome was I lost ~35 men... whoa looks like it was some Rambo Pirate left on the vessel *lol*. Somtimes strange things happen though what you mention is truely an issue with the mutinity at hand and no moral boost works.

I met another captain he agreed to accompany with his force, and usually you have his ship under his command in your squadron then, you can change everything since it's your ship now and the former captain is your companion.

But with this fellow below he agreed to join me and as I leave the town he still sits idle in the tavern, even if I go back he still is there saying the same thing... It's been+ 1 year now later and still he sits there instead of beeing under my command... I'll make him clean the whole squadron with a toothbrush :slap

Maybe it's related to this character and limited here and can be fixed or a one time oddity, either way this is the fellow:
