Here is my idea for the Privateer based on Hawks Schooner of War.

Notice that on moving the mast without changing the walk file, we do get air walkers.

I never did fix it, that is, it doesn't let me upload attachments at all, files pic etc.

What I did here was post the links to a Pic hosting site, which just makes it that much more complicated.

I hope Keith or someone answers on that problem soon.

Hi all,

what I would like is a real tartana as seen in the model sales site linked to this one. It should displace slightly less than the cutter, but be very tough. Probably as many HP as a cutter, tartanas were extremely durable for their size.

Crew of 30 men, high speed, not less than for a cutter and foremost phenomenal manouevrability. Should be the most manouevrable ship in the game and that by a clear margin. Very good(actually best in game) in sailing close to the wind too.

Armament six 4-pdrs(maybe unrealistically overgunned <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> ), no bow or stern guns.

So this means that lifeboats should be lifeboats and the tartana replacing the gunboat.

The reason for this? Some tartanas were achingly beautiful small vessels... And I`ve not heard abt chebeques being used in the Caribbean, maybe they should be replaced by the Bermuda sloop?

Just dreaming...

Petros Manowar.zip is up on ftp.

It is the Manow50_gub with Hawks rigging and instructions on how to add to the game.

It does not replace existing ships unless you use the Post Build 12 Mods, in which case it replaces the old Manow50_gub with the updated version.

started on a ship skin myself. still working on the whole putting it on it's own ship kind of thing so i put it over the original for now to grab a screen shot of it. any advice on making it better?

i'm still trying to wrestle with tool so i can mod masts and the such. no matter what i do i can't see a ship and it's masts in it at the same time

You can make a copy of the ship.gm and rename it to what ever you like.

Near the beginning of that file will be referenced the texture file it uses.
You can change that with a Hex editor to point to a new texture.
Just make sure the new texture file name is exactly the same length as the original.

I use HexEdit, but I'm no authority on this, and I'm sure others can recommend many other editors.

To Captain Spectre to edit mast sails etc Open ship.gm in TOOL. goto locators submenu.
like when you edit flag locators. mast 1 bowsprit, mast2 foremast, mast3 mainmast, mast4 mizzen.
OK now you like to move foremast : "X" locators move mast port or starboard side of ship.
"y" mast up or down "z" mast to bow or to stern. OK then start new game and look at result.
there is now way i know to see it in TOOL.

I found an error in my Corvette6_50, Pirate Corvette.

I gave it increased stats as it would be a Pirate ship but in assigning Nation,
refShip.Nation = PIRATE;
the game increases those stats again, making it much too fast a ship for what was intended.

Could you replace this ships stats with this:

thanks mate i can't take all the credit for it. it's mostly a recoloured version of the light frigate. i just never liked the blue and silver it was originally.
it'll get large flags i just really need to catch up with the post build first i think i'm 2-3 updates behind now. been busy the last few months <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

hmm do you need tp start a new game to see the mast changes or will it get changed in ya save games? cause i got a save out at sea with the ship now

You do not need to start a new game if you already have a save game of testship. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

While reworking the Corvette6_50 stats I managed to add the mast & spars with large flag to it, taken from the CorvFrig2_50.

I uploaded the entire package with all files to ftp. Enjoy!

That is why I added the Light Frigate2 to the modpack back in Sept.

Back when I was working on that ship I asked if the Ships_init.c was the only place that needed editing to increase cannon, but no one had an answer. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Now, I've tested and found that indeed, you have to have the cannons defined in the model.gm file as well.
If not, the ship will not use the right amount of ammo per volley, nor do the cannons do the damage equal to that expected of the number of cannons defined in the Ships_init.c alone. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

I'm going back to actually add in the cannon locators in the gm so that my Merchantman actually does fire 10 (perhaps 11 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> ) cannon per broadside!
