New or Improved ships ...

Nice work, matey. Looking forward to more ships, too.

I'm currently reskinning the existing cannons and carriages (deck.tga) used by most ships, and the results are looking pretty cool. Will tweak a little more and then get a screenshot up.

It all looks excellent, but it works <i>especially</i> good on the Dutch Fleut. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
 
i wonder how it'd look on an MOW or the Black Pearl that Kazeite made. oh, that reminds me, did he manage to fix his little walk file problem?
 
Yes and no.

I've managed to make crewmen walk on foredeck, main deck, and up the stairs, but they refuse to walk on the quarterdeck and ratlines.

And yeah, <i>Black Pearl</i> with gold trims would look positively <i>wicked</i> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
 
For the Ketch I be lean'n towards iron chains. What say ye?

Yeah looks particularly good on the larger ships like the Pinnace and Fleut.

A question.
Did you modify one of the existing ones like from the frigate or lineship?

If so, you would have to keep within the number of walk counts: Verts, types and graph numbers of the original file.

You can get around that limit by reusing some points to different locations.

Looks great, Petros! The War Galleon has lost almost any resemblance to your original version. Are you sure you would want to have yor new version overwrite the original version? We'd lose one skin then. You wouldn't loose a skin, just swap one. Remember it also uses a different model (Galleon2)

I was thinking of replacing the old War Galleon with this one, rather than making it War Galleon 2.

I figured you'd want to keep them both <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" /> but ... the skin on the first one looks so crapy ... and that is me saying it. I did it and I really don't like it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Do you really like it? (old War Galleon) What is good about it?
 
I don't think the War Galleon is THAT bad. It's not as good as your other skins, but it isn't bad either. As far as I'm concerned, any new skin adds something to the game. I don't like removing content. Unless it's really, really bad. Which, in this case, it is not. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Also, are you refering to the black and gold war galleon? Did you make that skin? It is actually one of my favorite skins, in my mind it seems alot more realistic than many skins because alot of ships of the period were tarred wood with lots of gold trim, if you get rid of it, I would be most disappointed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

OK, I'll leave it in. Maybe I'll re-skin it someday just to tweak it a little but leave it black and gold <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
BTW, all 8 ships in the credits/features list credited to me are in Build 13 already.
Only the Royal Galleon, War Galleon 2 and the Ketch are not.

Pieter, now I'll have to go and change all the filenames for the Treasure/Royal galleon and the "War Galleon2".

I'll set them as Galeon3.gm and Galeon4.gm, so the old war galleon can stay as GaleonW.gm
