New or Improved ships ...

Petros, nice one there matey.

Perfect for the flamboyant pirate... James Hook maybe? ...Smee? ...Smee? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Keep 'em coming, matey.

That looks quite nice. Not the colour scheme I would expect for a merchant vessel though. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Well, I did take it from the pirate Anacleto Pinto. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I'm not looking for an Uber-ship here so I'm keeping it to the 12lb limit for cannons.

I do think it would be nice to give it let's say 28 instead of the 24.

Does anyone know for sure, if we assign the number of cannon in "ships_init.c", does the game use that number to record hits and damage, even if the number does not match the number of cannon in the gm model?

This is what I'm thinking:

refShip.Name = "Pinnace3_50";
refShip.id = refShip.Name; // PS
refShip.all = "Pinnace2";
refShip.sname = "Pinnace3_50";
refShip.Class = 3;
refShip.Cannon = CANNON_TYPE_LONG_LBS12;
refShip.MaxCaliber = 12; // stays the same
refShip.Weight = Tonnes2CWT(550);
refShip.Capacity = 3200;
refShip.CannonsQuantity = 28; // from 24
// NK cannon qtys 05-04-18 -->
refShip.Cannons.Borts.cannonf.qty = 2;
refShip.Cannons.Borts.cannonb.qty = 6;
// NK <--
refShip.MaxCrew = 300;
refShip.MinCrew = 60;
refShip.SpeedRate = 12.5; // from 11
refShip.TurnRate = 30; // from 27
refShip.Price = 70000;
refShip.HP = 4000;
refShip.SP = 100;
refShip.AbordageLocation = "BOARDING_PINNACE";

I think the plus 4 cannons are a good idea, yes. Although I would raise the maxcaliber to the next one. (14lb?) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Uploaded tha Merchantman to FTP Enjoy <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

It's a nice ship for trade missions, especially if you start out with it.

Of course, the pirate version is better.

I fussed with the guns but got strange results like bump ups to 24 lbs, so I left them at 12 lb.

If anyone wants to experiment with the cannon size, please do.

Remember, the numbers do different things depending on wether or not realistic cannons are set.

Great, thanks a lot <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Am I missing something? I see all the "wow nice!" replies, but see no pics? (sorry to get all off-topic!)

There's a picture on the previous page, two posts from the bottom. Click the small square thing to enlarge the picture.

ah ok thanks mate.. but the first posts direct to a picture aswell which I don't see <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

anyone up to taking some criticism? lol :p

well the fact is alot of these repaint in build and new stuff is making me ill. i find most of the colors on repaints too sharp and too out of place and at times too modern. i think ppl doing repaints here are doing too much what they feel like, Shure i have no objection about ppl doing what they want to do, but forcing it into a major mod like the build mod dosent just feel right, id rather see more ship with a bit more historic color schemes, Most ships during the great age of sail werent painted at all, the most colorful ships would be the great warships but even so it was very few colors and the hull itself was rarley painted.

The repaints are wonderful but i just find that they look too out of place in a sailing game set in the great age of sail.

I tend to agree with Merciless... The ships all look sharp but some stray toward the cartoony. My least favorite, I dunno who made it, but it's a big ship with almost neon green and yellow on it...
Stuff like Cap'n Hook's Jolly Roger is fun as a break from the norm, anyway.

In 17th century ships were very colored and highly decorated. I only don´t like all the war ships and line ships from the Russian friends in the game. They are very poor what about all the hull and painting concerns. Have a look at this how ships were coloured and decorated. This Sovereign of the Seas is my favourite ship. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

<a href="http://www.handcraftedmodelships.com/sovereign-of-the-seas-ship-model.php" target="_blank">http://www.handcraftedmodelships.com/sover...-ship-model.php</a>

yes but as i said the entire hull was rarley painted. quite a few of the repaints in the build stand out too much like a sore thumb

the most horrible ship has to be the red and neon green Fearless repaint, ugh!

If you mean this green frigate so I like this painting. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yeah, but would those warships have that shiny painting? I had a frigate once.. it was a bit of darkgreen but it was all shiny.. y'know, where the sunlight hits, it looks a different colour..
Could they do that back then?

As I said I would be very glad if all these warships and lineships ( I don´t mean the Ship of the Line which is great) would replace with complete new better warships and lineships, not only their painting. I had some picture where the hulls of the lineships are. Maybe I will find them and put them here. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I think this way should be hulls of the two deck line ships look like. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

mmm i was having an idea here, alltho i dunno if there would be any legalty problems from akella, but a thought that crossed my mind is maybe one could convert models from Sea Dogs, wich are pretty darn good, and just edit them to upgrade detail(add acutal cannons and cannon ports and anchors and some other small details) the Sea Dogs frigate is simply my favorite <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
