I have been working on my own story. It might not be related to the Blind Parrot that much, but I think you will like it.

The year was 1630, and the world was filled with every type of ship from every type of country. But a lot of these ships were merchants, and throughout all history, were there are vulnerable rich people there are people ready to rob them. By this time, pirates were very populous, and were starting to organize. Many small places were these pirates and lawless people appeared. Two big places were created, the Sinner’s Den and the Sailor’s Refuge. Both these lawless ports had many fierce characters among them. The Sinner’s Den mostly had pirates that concentrated on the Archipelago. The Sailor’s Refuge was a little tamer, and sailors and pirates here were more gentlemen like in conduct and raided all parts of the Caribbean.
At one point, the Sinner’s Den got so big; it became two parts, Old Sinner’s Den and New Sinner’s Den. But the greedy countries of Europe did not want them there. So since Spain had the biggest problem with them, they sent a fleet of ships. This fleet included a Battleship, 2 Ships of the Line, 2 Frigates, 2 Corvettes, and 2,000 troops. New Sinner’s Den was attacked, and taken completely by surprise. Some put up a fight, a few were killed, a few ran and were never seen again, but most took what they could grab and ran out with their ships to Old Sinner’s Den. It took a couple of weeks for the news to get out to all who use to go to New Sinner’s Den and was out at sea. Some had to find out the hard way, and sail into the harbor and see the cursed Spanish in the town, creating a colony.
Most of the Pirates returned to Old Sinner’s Den, others moved to Sailor’s Refuge. After some remarks from the leading pirates that they would by themselves take back New Sinner’s Den, but never did. The Spanish called the new colony, Prentaños’s Cove, after Captain Prentaños who led the main force into the town, and created most of the new town. After the creation of a 50 cannon fort was created, most pirates went back to their old games.
But with no N.S.D. (New Sinner’s Den), the overload on the O.S.D. (Old Sinner’s Den) was humungous! The tavern they use to have in N.S.D was the best according to some pirates, and was more anarchic than the one on O.S.D. Eventually people started to stay away at sea more, or to even turn back to civilian life in one of the civilized countries.
So in 1630, O.S.D. and the other little towns were becoming plain, boring, predictable, and `non-exciting`. The grog at these places became plain, the wenches old and in small numbers, their taverns small and broken. So one man decided that it was time to start a new settlement. His name was George. It was just George. George told nobody his true last name. George had a title, “The Wiseman of Piracy.†George knew many tricks to piracy and how to stay out of the European power’s pursuing Frigates and other warships. So he started to get ready to find a new island.
George had two ships, a Brig and a Sloop. The Brig’s name was the “Swift Eagle.†The brig had `14-pounder` culverins, 8 to each broadside, and `9-pounders`, 2 stern chasers and 2 bow chasers a total of 20 cannon, with a crew of 175. The Sloop was named the “Demon.†The Sloop had `12-pounder` culverins, 5 to each broadside, and `9-pounders`, 2 stern chasers and 2 bow chasers, a total of 14 cannon, and had a crew of 90.
George took his ships, raided a few more small merchants to gain some money, and came back to O.S.D. to repair and supply his ships. So he finally set sail. He sailed through the Archipelago. The settled part of the Archipelago was too crowded by the English, French, Spanish, and Dutch. The pirate settlements around this area were very reduced in power and population. So he sailed on, and found a small chain of islands on the Archipelago that had not been settled on due to that it was just too far out of support distance for any country. The biggest island in the middle of the chain of eight islands would soon be the home to a new pirate settlement.
George landed on this island and explored the island. There was a cove that no ship over a frigate could go into. The island had a couple good natural springs, and plenty of trees. There was one particular clearing that was perfect to start a settlement right next to the beach of the cove. He decided to start building, starting with a dock, a few open buildings, and a nice house for himself to live in. Many prisoners taken from the last raid were used to build the new town. The open buildings were to be the taverns, stores, and shipyards in town. Word was sent out that there was a new town to populate. People started to move to this new village and rent out the building to create taverns, stores, and shipyards. It took a while, but the town started to really grow.
After about 2 years, the town was thriving. Over the next 3 years, the town went over a couple of expansions in size to try to make the town better for the size of population. But trouble was coming. A group of really bad pirates and robbers came to town. They were called “Spidersâ€; due to they spun webs of bills and lies. They made high tabs, and spread many rumors about how the town was going to fail due to that England was going to invade. At their high, they numbered around 200. So George gathered a group of over 300 armed men and forced these “Spiders†into the streets. A huge fight ensued. Half of these “Spiders†were killed, wounded or captured, and the rest ran into the jungles and to their ships and boats. George’s force suffered about 20 or 30 dead and wounded. After this event, “Spiders†were rarely ever seen again.
The next challenge came about, European countries. The first to try was the French. They thought that the town would be easy to take over by sea, by blockading it with a Frigate, 2 Brigs, and 2 Sloops. A pirate sloop tried to break through the blockade at night, and almost made it, but the Frigate’s broadside dismasted it and they had to surrender. The morning after that, George’s Brig “Swift Eagle†and Sloop “Demon†arrived back from raids on merchants. He hid his ships on the other side of the island, and waited for other ships to come. The ship called the “Sea Devil†arrived. The “Sea Devil†was a slave ship made into a good pirate ship. It had 36 cannon, and a crew of 225. In the middle of the night, they sailed around to the blockading fleet and all three ships fired into the Frigate, and tore out the ships decks and masts, making her impossible to operate. They fired a second broadside, sinking her. By that time, the French’s two Brigs and Sloops came into action. A hard battle was fought. The “Sea Devil†and the “Swift Eagle†ganged up on the two Brigs and sunk one of the Brigs. The other Brig ran, and as the two Sloops saw that the “Sea Devil†and “Swift Eagle†coming, they tried to run, but one was sunk, and the other was got away. It was a stunning victory for George.
But then, the hated Spanish invaded. They learned from the French’s mistakes, and took a force of 2,500 troops to destroy the town. But George had spies, and he prepared the town for the attack. First, he delayed the invasion by sinking the couple of ships that were supplying food and ammunition to the troops. He had time then to place cannon on the beach that the Spaniards were landing on. He hid the cannon. He had a total of 14 cannon, loaded with grape shot. He had 800 men supporting the cannon and their crews, a total of about 1,000 men. His second part of the plan was to attack the Spanish ships as they landed troops with his own ships. So he got his two ships, the “Sea Devil†and a Corvette named the “Iron Death†to attack the seven ships landing and escorting the troops. It was the perfect plan.
The day came; the ships started landing troops in the early morning, when the sun was just up. There was one ship in the invasion force they didn’t expect, a Battleship. They attacked the ships, and the Battleship sank the “Sea Devil.†“Demon†quickly picked up the survivors, and the fleet sailed back to the cove. George’s original plan was to drive away the Spanish ships and fire on the troops, but now he had 2,500 troops running up against the 14 cannon and 1,000 men he had on the beach. George told his men on land to open fire, and to keep the troops back as long as they could, and then to fall back fighting.
As George sailed back to the cove, the 14 cannon opened up on the troops, stalling the advance, and killing many. But the troops still advanced, and captured the cannon. The 1,000 men and gunners tried to stall the advance, but were not too successful. George landed all his men on his ships, which totaled over 500 men. But by that time, the Spanish were already fighting around the town, burning the buildings. George led his 500 men, and about 400 remaining men from the beach, and attacked the Spanish. His men grabbed up cutlass, musket, pistol, pike, hand bombs, and even a couple of swivel guns to repel them. They fought until night, and with the light coming from the burning building, drove the troops back to the beach. On the retreat back to the beach, they were ambushed constantly. The Spaniards were loaded back up into the ships, and the Spanish sailed away.
From this battle came the name of this town. When a soldier spotted George and his pirates coming at them, outnumbered and unorganized (unlike the Spanish formations), the Spanish soldier said mockingly, “Pirates Ahoy!†That soldier survived the battle, and on the retreat back to the ships, he said in fear just as some pirates ambushed them, “Pirates Ahoy!†All through the night, as pirates ambushed the retreat, “Pirates Ahoy!†was the call that meant that the pirates were attacking, and soldiers would run to those calls to try and fight their way toward the beach.
George has won a major victory, but at a price. Out of the 1,000 men on the beach, 200 were killed and about as many were wounded on the retreat to the town. Also about 200 men from the beach ran for the woods. But these men were also the ones who ambushed the retreating Spanish. Out of the 500 men from the ships, half of them were dead and wounded. The remaining 400 men who came from the beach who joined in the fight in town, about half of them were dead and wounded. So the total casualties were 850 dead and wounded, out of 1,500 men, over 50% casualties. Also almost half the town was burned. George’s own house was burned.
George then tried to rebuild the town. But George quickly realized that his treasury was not big enough. But help came quickly from donations from other ships that usually dock there. George then had enough money to build, but slaves were a problem. Then an interesting thing happened. A ship captured one of the ships containing the Spanish invading troops. The man who captured the troops said he would be happy to let George use them to rebuild, a little ironic for the men who destroyed the town to rebuild it. George decided to tear down the entire town. He moved it to the right of the original town position, building more dock space, more shipyards, more taverns, more stores, and a mansion for George “The Wiseman of Piracy†with a statue of him in front to honor him in his fight to keep the Spanish out. When the town was completed, they officially named it “Pirates Ahoy!â€
The position in which the town was built in now could now only be attacked by sea or by one road through a big pass through a mountain nearby. He built defenses here and on the cove, so now the town would be harder to attack. But there would be one more challenge, from the English.
England was shocked by how powerful these Pirates were, and decided that this was a threat to England’s colonies in the Archipelago. They decided that they would blockade the cove of Pirates Ahoy and attack by land. They would use 2 Ships of the Line, a Frigate, and a couple of sloops and brigs to blockade the cove, and send 2,000 troops down that one road and take the town. Once again, George found out about this early and had a plan. He got the Corvettes “Iron Death†and the “Devil’s Revenge†to help him. He sailed his two ships and the Corvettes hidden at an island nearby. The blockading fleet arrived three days earlier than the invasion fleet. The ships in the harbor knew that they would not get out. When the invasion fleet arrived, and as George had predicted, only one lonely Frigate was guarding the 4 other ships that had barely any defenses.
George attacked a fleet; all the ships attacked the Frigate. The “Swift Eagle†and “Demon†boarded the Frigate that was named the “Justice†and captured her in tact. Then they attacked the other 4 ships, sinking 1 with all the troops in it, running off two ships that had unloaded only some troops, and running off the last ship after it had landed all it’s troops. So there were about 1,300 troops on land now, and they quickly ran out of cannon range down the road toward the defenses.
George had most of the men from all the ships (about 700 total) go in pursued of them. As the English men marched down toward the defense, they met obstacles in the road, and George and his men worked their way closer. The English soldiers finally made it to the defenses. There were 16 cannon loaded with grape waiting for them, and over a 1,000 men behind the defenses. The English soldiers were stopped in front of the defenses, and as George’s men charged in from behind, the men behind the defenses charged, and in a few minutes, about 400 of the soldiers remained, and surrendered.
George had the prisoners escorted away, and the rest of them headed back to the ships. They fixed up the Frigate, and readied it for battle. They took the fleet of now 5 ships and headed toward the blockading fleet. The cannons in the defenses of the cove were dueling with the Frigate and other small ships that made their way into the cove. The other small pirate ships in the cove did what they could do to fight the ships, and at night, the English ships fell back out of range to regroup. That night, George decided that it was time to make a sacrifice. He took everything that was worth saving out of his Sloop “Demon†and set her on fire. The English ships panicked, as the Sloop neared the fleet, one the Ships of the Line ran aground, and caught fire. The other ship of line ran into the Frigate, two Corvettes, and the Brig, and was sunk. The English Frigate and other English ships sailed away in defeat.
The next night there was victory celebration. With a Frigate and the two Corvettes defending the bay now, the defense of Pirates Ahoy was secured. That night, they partied at the Blind Parrot, which was then known as biggest and the best serviced tavern in the town from then on. George lived happily, and richly in his mansion, until he died at the age of 73. George is always remembered as “The Wiseman of Piracy†and “The Founder and Savior of Pirates Ahoy!â€
