If you are thinking about integrated graphics, then this is the way to go.
AMD A10-7850K Processor Kaveri 12 Compute Cores (4 CPU + 8 GPU) 3.7GHz Socket FM2+ 95W AMD Radeon R7 series AD785KXBJABOX - Newegg.com

ASUS A88X-PRO FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) 6 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - Newegg.com

Computer Hardware, Memory, Desktop Memory, DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) - Newegg.com

ARCTIC Freezer A30 CPU Cooler for AMD with 120mm PWM Fan and 4 Direct Contact Heat Pipes - Newegg.com

CPU = $125
Mobo = $120
ram = $85-$105 depending on what you want
cooling = $40 it is totally silent with one of these cpus at 4.2 ghz. The stock cooler can get noisy.

I have built this for someone else and after hitting the auto overclock feature on the motherboard it rocks for a little quad.

Or if a dedicated GPU is desired:
AMD Athlon X4 860K Quad-Core 3.7 GHz Socket FM2+ 95W AD860KXBJABOX Desktop Processor (BLACK EDITION) - Newegg.com

Computer Hardware, Video Cards & Video Devices, Desktop Graphics Cards, Radeon R9 380, Radeon R9 390, Radeon R9 390X - Newegg.com

CPU = $75
GPU = $200-$300

I have a 8gb GPU now and have seen 3gb of ram being used. At least 4 gb of ram is recommended.

I was wondering too, about Office.
I do not have (Microsoft) Office yet. Well, I have LibreOffice.
But I don't like that. Maybe you guys know a good solution?
I mainly want to use it for making things for school.
I think they have Microsoft Office 365. And if I use LibreOffice, for example;
The looks go all over the place. (Thats why I mainly use Notepad(++))

I have been using Libre Office/Open Office for years and it is an excellent program! It is what I use to create the manuals for POTC, and a lot of other things. There are some formatting issues between Libre Office and Microsoft Office, but the issues are all mostly Microsoft's fault as they keep changing their document formats to be incompatible with Libre Office, forcing you to upgrade to their "newest" Office version. Corporations suck!

Yeah, they are trying to indoctrinate them early these days. At least they now offer a "free" version of office, if you don't mind the adds and all the spying and tracking stuff attached to it that is. :wp

Do you have any details on that? I think that is pretty much exactly what he's hoping for. :onya

Apart from the crap that comes with it, of course.... but "young ones" these days seem to be far more forgiving of such antics than "old folk" like me. :rolleyes:

And what recording software do you guys recommend? I did use fraps but it makes the files so big. Then I tried OBS, but it is so complicated.

I use Nvidia ShadowPlay, But you don't have a Nvidia card, do you?
I like that ShadowPlay and it is going forward every time the drivers
update, which is very often for Nvidia.:pirate07:

You could try Windows 10's built-in game recording feature, if you haven't already done so. Press Win Key + G while in a game and you'll get some options to start/stop recording, along with taking screenshots. I haven't tried this myself though, so I can't say how big the video files would be.

From what I have read, Windows 10's built in recording DVR software is pretty good. Unfortunately, it requires you to have an Xbox account, and you have to have a certified video card.
According to Microsoft only video cards matching these requirements will work :
  • AMD Radeon HD 7000 series, HD 7000M series, HD 8000 series, HD 8000M series, R9 or R9 series.
  • NVIDIA GeForce 600 or higher, Geforce 800M or higher, Quadro Kxxx or higher
There are several other software options, though most are not free, but do have trial versions. OBS is probably the best, but here are a few other options :

D3DGear : Game Recording Software, Video Game Recorder

Bandicam - Game Recording Software, Screen Recorder

Action! - Screen Recording Software and Gameplay Recorder

I tried that, I think. It didn't like my videocard.

@TechnicJelle, I briefly described my desktop earlier in this thread, it is very similar to yours, but with an AMD processor and 8 gig of memory. I recently bought a new laptop, and it is awesome! You can see all the tech specks over on Newegg HERE! It is basically the same computer reviewed in this video, except mine has a Nvidia GTX 970, 32 gigs of RAM and just a DVD burner :

@Armada, in my desktop, I have almost an identical card to what TechnicJelle has. Even though the card is 5 years old, I am sure that the hardware could handle what most games, like Minecraft, would require. The problems would come from the demanding games like newer FPS's, it would really struggle with most of those. Newer GPU power is just unreal, and they are only getting more powerful. I am not sure how Microsoft's VCR program is written, but some new programs are written to take advantage of spare GPU processing power instead of or in addition to using the CPU. I doubt that is the case with this program though, they are probably just limiting it so they don't have to deal with complaints from people trying to record demanding games on older hardware. That is just pure speculation though.

My spec:
Intel Core i3-4130-3.4 GHz.
Arctic Cooling Freezer i30
Asus Z87-A (c2)- Haswell motherboard
Kingston HyperX beast Duall Channel DDR3-1866-8GB
Geforce GTX 760 OC-2GB Gddr5
Corsair RM850 -80plus Gold-850W PSU
Samsung 840 EVO SSD-500 GB
Asus BC-12D2HT-DVD/Blueray ROM
Fractal Design Define R4- Cabinet.
PS. Can anyone tell me if there is any god reason to upgrade to 16 or 32 GB ram?
I only use the computer to work with potc, later on maybe HoO too.

In my area of work, copious RAM is used for 2D graphics or video editing, also offline rendering of very complex geometry. Haven't encountered much else for it. Good specialised GPU, like Quadro and decent CPU is most important for 3D stuff, in my modest experience. I had this fun experience when brand spanking MacPros at work with 16gb of RAM would run 5 complex projects in Adobe Illustrator at once, but would show UI artefacts and slow down to unusable levels with simple AutoCAD drawing, because of average GPUs.

Something is really slowing your system down, but I doubt it is ram. 8gb is enough for gaming and general use. I have 16gb because I got it on sale, not because I needed it. Faster ram now, that is another story!

You probably need to upgrade that duo to a quad.

32 gig of ram also gives you the ability to create a pretty good size RAM drive, and still have plenty of free RAM. Even with 32 gig of ram, Windows still insists on writing bits of active memory to a swap file! :modding
