Pre Build 13 Modpack

The downloads themselves have not been bugfixed yet. I will do that this weekend. It was just a message to say that all files are available for download again. Keith gave me more webspace, but to give me that, my entire site was removed, so I had to upload it again. Unfortunately, this happened last Friday. As you might know, I was leaving Friday to go sailing for school for a few days. Luckily, I still ahd some times to upload most of my site before I left. But I didn't have time for all files, so that was why some files, including the new islands mod, were still unavailable. So I uploaded these last files yesterday, beause I didn't have time before that.

<b><!--sizeo:3--><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Big news!<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--></b>
I am currently uploading a 238 MB full Post Build 12 mods file, including all recent fixes and new mods and stuff. All additional downloads are also included.

<i>Request for everybody wanting to play with the Post Build 12 mods or wanting to help out with bugfixing:</i>
Please make a clean installation of PotC
Install Build 12
Download and install this large Post Build 12 mods file
Run LangSwitchEnabler.bat

I know it is a large file to download and I know it is a pain to have to install all over again. However, I would be very grateful if you would do it anyway. The idea is that everybody would then be running the same completely clean Post Build 12 version. So then we know that all bugs encountered are not caused by compatibility issues, which would make bughunting and bugfixing much easier.

From now on, this version will be the "official" base version. I will not upload a new version before the Pre Build 13 is done, so you will not need to redownload anything for a long time. I will base all updates and bugfixes on this version. I will also make sure you won't have to reinstall yet again before the Pre Build 13 is done.

Once this file is uploaded and everybody is running with this version, we should try to fix all bugs we can that are still left. We should also decide on what should and shouldn't be in the Pre Build 13 during that time. Once we fixed all gamekilling and gametroubling bugs in the Post Build 12 mods and we decided on what mods should not make it into the Pre Build 13, I will start working on compiling the Pre Build 13.

If there is a large demand for it, I could make an update file available as well that will update the current Post Build 12 version to this new version. However, I would prefer not doing that, because I'm afraid that would cause some compatibility troubles again... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Hi Pieter GREAT WORK. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Now one member mentionet a CVS in his post, a new thing to me, newer used one.
I have a dual boot system windows and linux. And suse 9.2 that i have, has a cvs. so i looket at it a little.
Here is introduction of it. wery useful program i think for modders.

Chapter 1. Introduction
A version control system is a tool to record, manage and distribute different versions of files. CVS is a version control system. It allows you to share your modifications easily, as each of the contributors can work in his local copy at the same time, without fear of overriding each other modifications. It allows the recovery of past versions (useful for tracking bugs), the creation of branches (for experimental development or for releases of code) and more.

The main repository usually holds a collaborative project (commercial or not), but you can take advantage of the nice revision control features offered by CVS even for a project developed exclusively by you. It is easy to set up a local repository, and you will gain the ability to track changes that caused bugs, revert changes, avoid accidental loss of information, etc.

While the repository holds the project files, and every contributor keeps their own local copy, named working copy or sandbox. One can add his modifications to the main repository (a process called "committing") and / or update his own copy to reflect recent changes made by other contributors.

On internet i read about TortoiseCVS that works in internet explorer prowser. it is free.
Simple i think, but i do not really know. have not tried it. they also think that winmerge is cool thing.
And users can use it with TortoiseCVS. Also users can learn it in their systems, and when they know how to use it they can use common repository.
Hope this helps CapHawk <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I am using a free program called WinMerge that shows all differences between different codebases. So people can make their mods with a different codebase and I can easily find the differences.

<b><!--sizeo:3--><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->It is done!<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec--></b>
The full Post Build 12 mod file is now available! And I already found a major gamekilling bug that would prevent you from even leaving the tutorial cabin, because I made yet another mistake and Malcolm couldn't load his dialog. Sorry for that. However, I already uploaded a fix for it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

<i>Request to all: Please do the following:</i>
- Make a clean installation of Pirates of the Caribbean
- (Download and) install <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.net/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=59&Itemid=26" target="_blank">Build 12</a> (77,7 MB)
- Download and install the <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.net/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=59&Itemid=26" target="_blank">full Post Build 12 mod file</a> (238 MB)
- Run LangSwitchEnabler.bat
<i>- Extract this <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org/downloads/small_bugfix.zip" target="_blank">small update</a> on top to correct my stupid mistake mentioned above Keith: included in the main file now Pieter</i>
- Reset controls to default and start a new game

If everybody does this, we will be sure everyone is running the exact same version of the Post Build 12 mods, so we can do some serious testing and bugfixing. Please help with this!

<!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->Edit:<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> My site has now also been updated with the download and the installation instructions. The additional downloads have been removed, because they are implemented in the full download. They are still available though; only the links have been removed. So if you need any of the old files, just ask me for the link. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

<i>Request to everyone having much free webspace:</i>
Because the <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.net/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=59&Itemid=26" target="_blank">full Post Build 12 modpack</a> has become very large indeed at 238 MB, it will generate much traffic for the server hosting it. If you can, could you please upload a mirror file somewhere? That would save traffic and allow people to download it faster as well. And if you do so, please add in the <a href="http://pieter.piratesahoy.org/downloads/small_bugfix.zip" target="_blank">small update</a> file as well. That needs to be added in, because it fixes a major but stupid bug caused by a mistake of mine... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

You should have my info now, also thanks man.. just for kicks my B-day is feb 9th so thanks for the early gift.. I will hit the big 30, only a few thousand more years to go.. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Please note though that there will be bugs left. So I hope you don't mind a buggy early gift. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
Anyway: Early HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

cant have more bugs than most new games, <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Its cool no worries.

<!--quoteo(post=112546:date=Jun 12 2005, 01:24 PM:name=Pieter Boelen)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Pieter Boelen @ Jun 12 2005, 01:24 PM) [snapback]112546[/snapback]</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->My modpack that originally started as "<a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?showtopic=4322" target="_blank">Few minor modifications/additions/'bug-fixes' for PotC</a>" seems to have become rather large, so I thought I'd make a new thread for the now quite large modpack. Especially because I am in dire need of new bugtesters, because I have recently added so much new stuff. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
I am now about finished with getting all mods from the Pre Build 13 files into PotCMods.zip and everything seems to be working more or less stable. The game at least will run. (Which means it did for me)

How to install:
1) Install your stock PotC
2) Install Build 12
3) Extract <a href="http://millenniumdock.bravepages.com/storage/others/PotCMods.zip" target="_blank">PotCMods.zip</a> on top (44 MB - Sorry guys <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> )

Some new mod I found really cool:
Get yourself the beardless Blaze skin (Blaze_NB.gm), buy armor from a trader and equip it. The armor will show on the model! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />
As for now, this mod will only work for that particular skin, but I'm going to try and make it work for several more. In the A&M Mod, there are armored skins of Blaze, Depp, Pirat10 and Will (if I remember right). I'm going to try and add these in soon too. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
<!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Edit:<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> I remembered right and I now added them into the update. I'm not sure they all work though. And I had to change the armored depp skins into using the new skin (and I doubt I did a very good job at that <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> )

Anyway: PLEASE HELP TESTING THIS! I'm hoping this can be made so complete and stable that we'll finally be on our way to a Build update or something.

New features not in the Pre Build 13 files:
- Spyglass mod
- Several new character skins by Petros and High Sea Lass
- Animist Quest Fix by Catalina
- Some other stuff I can't remember
(And sorry for everyone whose name I forgot. I didn't have the time to search for it. Sorry.)

Known bugs:
- Gregor Samsa doesn't show any items for trade (WHY? WHY WHY? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> )
<!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Edit:<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> I think it's got to do with you having already spoken to him (in most cases), so te last_speak_date is already set to today and so he won't be given any items. I'm trying to think of a way to fix this. I just don't know how. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
<!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->Edit 2:<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->I have managed to solve it, but it isn't a very flashy solution, because now he will have new items every time you speak to him; not only one day later. And why can't I set the trading type/quality of characters in the character init files instead of in the dialog files? Many traders don't even <i>have</i> a seperate dialog file. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
<!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->- Edit:<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> Warning: If you equiped your armor and your model changed, your sword and gun will have become invisible, until you reload to another location. If you fire your (invisible) gun before going to another location, the game will crash, so don't do that. Your sword will work fine being invisible. After reloading to another location, everything will work fine as well.
<!--coloro:red--><span style="color:red"><!--/coloro-->- Edit:<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> Cheatmode refuses to work for some reason and I haven't got the slightest idea why. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Mods that can still be added:
- New Interface mod (is that one properly working and stable to be added?)
- New skins and weapons from the A&M Mod
- More character and ship skins (JMV skins/Deringer skins/Jack Sparrow Jr. skins)
Which of these mods are stable and good to be added?

Once everything is working quite well ingame, I'll go and try to make either an update to my webpage thingey or make a completely new manual for the game to reflect all new additions.

cheat mode doesent work?? YEAAAH

Pieter, to save you some bandwidth, why don't you just make a torrent for the 238mb file? I'd gladly seed it, as I'm sure others would.

You could even bundle it with the build 12 and call it a "POTC Starter kit" or something...

Yeah torrent might be the way to go, im trying to work out how to make a torent file thats on a server already, so you have PA! seeding the file kind of thing.

Otherwise ill have a US mirror soon which will help out <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I don't know how to make a torrent, so I'll wait until Keith figures something out.

To Cpt.YuKe: The cheatmode works just fine. That was an old notion that has been fixed ages ago.

Pieter, I've updated your links to reflect the new hosting on PA!, im uploading it the the US server now aswell, so ill have a link for that tomorrow. Ive also already included the fix so there is not need for that now. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hi been lerking on these forums for a while now but ive finally decided to help out.

I dont know if this helps or not but it seems to me like the problem is in LAi_boarding.c and givin the line numbers its in this part of the code:
