Re-worked Privateer

Good thinking. Perhaps we can somehow switch between the locator files, depending on whether or not Manowars are present.

As for the "Jolly Mon", ZarethPL said he'd be willing to try and fix her, so could you please send him a PM with the model file? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Here is the file if you would.

Deleted this bad stock Brig1_rey_d3.gm as we won't be needing it anymore! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wavarr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":warr" border="0" alt="wavarr.gif" />

I'm glad you could try with this one, but it didn't work.

The problem with this stock game spar is that it has it's outside textures on the inside.

Normally if you can get inside an object, (side step into a house) all the walls disappear as you look out from the center in all directions.
From the outside, you only see the opaque texture of the nearest wall.

If that texture gets mapped to the inside instead, then from the outside, it becomes transparent.
You see right through it to the texture of the opposite wall.

It's just the normals that need to be flipped. Back when I still used 3DS MAX, there used to be a button for that. There probably is one somewhere in Maya too, right?

thats wierd couse in maya evereything seems normal

I can confirm that the GM viewer shows it as normal, but in game it is not.
That is possibly how this one got past the Akella team.

As for "flipping normals and re-exporting" I say go for it, it just might work.

Of course making it work for all ship sizes is not going to happen with just a locator file change; some code changes would need to be made too so that different ship sizes are moored at different distances.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I think this one file will do for all ships except the MoWs.

These three shots show the Player's ship and companion 1 ship locations relative to the IM piers.
The Pinnace, Brig, Battleship, Frigate, Galleon, and Lugger are represented.

Later today I'll add the one for MoWs.

MoW in port.

The positioning of all 4 MoWs, although I don't know why anyone would want to sail around with such a fleet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Here is the locator file for MoWs

View attachment muport_l_MoW.gm
I named it "muport_l_MoW.gm" for now to distinguish it from the real location file.
I guess someone will come up with code to use/switch to it or else rename it.

Thanks again, Petros! Indeed I am hoping we can figure out a way to switch.
Having ships moored alongside the jetties really does look cool, but with the biggest ships going through the piers,
we can't have it in a final release unless we do something about it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Something else I've noticed on models is ships that have see-through windows are missing interiors, so when you get close to them, you see through the ship to the sea, and it just looks wrong.

I'll try to get screen caps a bit later so I can point out what I'm talking about. But I'm sure you all know anyhow.

Cap'n Drow

There's ships with see-through windows? I only know the Black Pearl has that, but she does have an interior cabin. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

The Frigate in AOP has a see thru cabin and some of the smaler ships! All look ok to me <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

iv done as u asked Petros reflipped and rexported that model and made one new one just in case hope it will work now ? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Great!

1 Is the one you flipped "brig1 rey d3.gm"?
This one is still has textures on the inside but from far away it looks OK, because the lighting looks fine.

2.When you say "made a new one" do you mean "rey d3.gm"?

Did you make this one by re-re-flipping the first one back, or reconstruct it from parts?
The textures are on the outside and the lighting is correct! This one is perfect. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" />

See why it pays to not give up?

To Hook or any other sailing experts please advise.

The image below shows Brigs with the wind blowing from starboard.

Note the position of the spanker is different. Which one is more correct?
