Surprise!!!!!

i think it should be made as unencounterable, so that there is only one of it, otherwise we will have the FPS disaster again

One or so in the entire world? or one per encounter if any

I think it should be made a quest ship as mentioned earlier in the thread.
That way you would only be able to obtain the ship by completing the quest and you wouldn't run into it just sailing about.

And i think it should be a normal ship, were lacking greatly in realistic ships sailing around.

Arh,

But soon to be released will be the British fleet pack, hopefully closely followed by the French and Dutch fleets, which will hopefully mean there will be plenty of 'normal' naval vessels floating around.

Could probably do with some more merchants though. I quite liked the idea of the Dutch West Indies company etc. being added as separate nations.

Complete new models based on the skins that Seb has been doing.
I've been coding them as new ships.
Still got a couple of skins to do 1st Rater, 2nd Rater and 6th Rater, and a bit of testing and then they should be ready for release.
See the First Attempts at Skinnig thread for an idea of what they're going to look like

i think two in the entire game would be best, i mean, ships in that time were usually one of a kind, with similar paint jobs maybe, but not identical ships, and having more than two in an encounter would bring the game to a grinding hault, because of the detail.

i think that would depend on what system the user has <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I think that we can "Realistically" expect that most people do not have "Uber-Machines", and will encounter serious lag with 2 of those.
Add to that a two fleet battle... in the rain... and it will be impossible!

we already have the lo version, why add the fully gunned model as a new ship? it could just simply be optional for those with a high end system <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I'm talking about the "lo version"! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
The lag is most noticeable!

ah, cant relate to that but i do have a high end system. the only times i get lag with the current model, is when two fleets fire off all their guns at once.

your lucky, you have fleets!
i set it so that i'm notified of all sightings, and face several scratch patrols, none of which have a first rate!
i almost never face a battle fleet, in fact, i think the last time i faced a battle fleet was two months ago!
i have a upper medium quality PC, its quite good, good VGA card, two hard drives, but it still lags! and that's without the huge fleets!
i think the ship should be removed as an encounterable ship, and kept as a quest ship.
NOT THE NIGEL BLYTHE QUEST THOUGH! remember it doesn't work.
P.S: Does the difficulty setting effect the size of the fleets you encounter?

I stand by my statement, we need realistic ships.

And personally, i dont think one should focuse on those with low end systems,
no offence, but we with high end systems are going to want to really use it.

you know what? why not add the light version, with the heavy version as an extra available on the FTP, and try to limit encounters with fleets of Surprises, so that those with low end systems aren't left with unplayable games!
