Build 14 Alpha 8 WIP 2 PIRATE_KK

Woops; Sorry, Bartolomeu. Did have time to check. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
And LOL @ that screenshot. That doesn't help. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

I don't much like the storm all the time either; good thing to have it back to fine weather. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

To PeterWillemoes: Random characters are either the navy officers in the port or the characters who you can actually have interesting conversation with. These are NOT the characters that can tell you about the town and the governor, etc, but the characters who might pick your pocket and give you experience and stuff like that. I do have the default characters in Redmond port, but not these random ones.

Did you have soldiers in Redmond as well? How did you start the game? I tried both the Jack Sparrow and Beatrice Devlin quests that start straight in Redmond port and in those cases I have no soldiers. I did get soldiers in Point a Pitre when starting the Bartolomeu o Portugues quest and I also had soldiers in Douwesen when starting the original main quest with nation Holland.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Sorry I didnt reply earlier. I started out with Horatio H. and found myself in Redmond harbour after the conversation with Malcolm.
I did not notice any pickpockets, only an unusual large number of soldiers. Inside the gates, I did talk to some characters, that gave me experience for money.

That's interesting. I just tried Horatio Hornblower as well and also got the problem with no soldiers or navy officers in port at all. VERY strange. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Hint: I installed B14A6update2 and not B14A6 like i was supposed to. That is the only difference in my install and both of yours.
Appearently, something that was not supposed to work, worked for me by accident. You made the update2 version, do you recall what you fixed?

Could you make another install with Alpha 6 instead? I'd be interested to know if you do get the same issues as I do with that. As far as I can think of, it shouldn't make a difference if you had installed Alpha 6 Update 2 or not. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Yeah, I´ve been trying to all day. But so far I have got errors when trying to start the game. I am making my third attempt today and will post later or tomorrow.

EDIT:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Installation order:
1) Install Build 14 Alpha 8 WIP 2 MAXIMUS correctly (see here)
2) Recommended to make a COPY of the Maximus installation
3) Remove ALL soldier model, head, animation and texture files from your game:
- Search your RESOURCE folder for terms like "sold" and "sol" and remove the files that apply
4) Extract the b14_alpha8_wip2_pirate_kk.7z file to your game folder with 7-Zip<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

BTW does this include soldiers´ .ini files as well?

Finally got 8/kk up and working, but with little results:

[attachment=1850:seadogs2_0000.jpg]

Of course, I am sure the fault is with me and I messed something up.

I was just wondering about the huge library, my PotC all of a sudden has grown into, from 1.36 GB to almost 6 GB!
Maybe we should do some rethinking for collection of material and distribution.
Or find a way to divide the huge libraries into smaller parts...or a way to divide the mods into smaller, selectable parts to add one by one? Also, the ftp-traffic must cost a lot? I dont know. Ever thought about torrent-distribution?

6 GB is correct for the gamesize.

By the way, I have just been playing/modding the Beatrice Devalin part of the game and notice I get the "toy" ships on the world map!!
Anyone else seeing this?
My ship seems to be correct, but the other ships seem to have come straight out of lego land. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Sorry for i write here but i get some.. uhmm lots of bugs and i wish to ask something. I got the latest version of build and i can't use the main menu thats not the biggest problem but if i choose the jack sparrow Storyline and in the beginning i get a mystery letter from a mystery messenger, i go to the harbour master and it says: "i can't open the lawrence... dialog" and i can only exit. So i can't speak with him. Ohh im in Port Royal And im British. So i go to the Town hall and There is a Girl some kind of Bris... And she can't open the Bris_..._dialog so i can't spek with her. So Where Can i Really Begin The Jack Sparrow Storyline Becuse im with the Wicked Wench and i think im at the beginning of jack sparrow's carrier. So Where can i follow the story? Which Quest? Oh and lots of time the exe has got errors. So Please if someone can help me please do it! Sorry for bad English knowledge i hope u can catch it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Gb666: The WIP letters in the version you got, means <b>W</b>ork <b>I</b>n <b>P</b>rogress. This means, that it is not meant to be played by someone outside this community, unless they want to mod. It is a "testversion" for testing new stuff, added by the modders. This version has lots and lots of bugs and is barely playable.

I suggest you download the <a href="http://www.s31clan.com/pietersmods/potc_downloads/build14/b14_alpha6.zip" target="_blank">Build14_Alpha6</a> with the <a href="http://www.s31clan.com/pietersmods/potc_downloads/build14/b14_alpha6_additional.zip" target="_blank">updated</a> version and try it out. It is the most recent version, that is stable to some extent <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

You probably already know all this, just thought I might help you out a little <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

There isn't a Jack Sparrow quest in that game version. There is in the Maximus version, but it's part of the regular main quest. Short Jack Gold is still working on enabeling the Curse of the Black Pearl film quest as a seperate Selectable Storyline. The Jack Sparrow quest that is there is solely for testing purposes and doesn't contain any Jack Sparrow stuff, except for the character model and ship. Other than that, it's a carbon-copy op the Devlin Opera quest, which also contains nothing else than the starting dialog.

To Short Jack Gold: Toy ships? Huh? Did you install Alpha 6 first? If so, you can't possibly have toy ships. I am thinking perhaps I accidentally left them out of the WIP 2 Maximus download. But then that shouldn't matter, because they ARE included in Build 13 Final, which you're supposed to install first. The realistic ships actually overwrite the toy ships, so I'm completely baffled as to why you've still got toy ones. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
BTW: I wouldn't mind actual LEGO ships. Would be fun. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

What INI files? Anyway, you should remove the GM, TGA.TX and ANI files. All the proper files are included in the download. You don't actually HAVE to remove them, but it prevents confusion.

I've got 5,51 GB on my Pirate_KK installation and that is excluding a lot of new character and ship models that I haven't yet added. Any ideas of decreasing the size would be welcome. I don't much like torrents, because there need to be plenty of seeders for that who have their computers on and it isn't really user-friendly to download either. I prefer direct download links. Nice and simple. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

And how can i Change the Starting ship, In the build 14 alpha 7 plus? I wish to go with the new black pearl model. But i can't find the file where i can change it. Please help!

PROGRAM\InternalSettings.h? Or was the code already changed in Alpha 7 Plus to make it harder? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

That´s why I sent the good man to B14A6

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Wow! What did you DO???<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I´ll tell you what.
-I installed B13final (remembered the runme.bat)
-B14A6 (preset.bat, runme.bat)
-removed the files listed in the instructions
-unzipped the b14_alpha8_wip2_maximus.7z file
-executed the ATTACHED runme.bat file in the instructions and not the included runme.bat
-searched RESOURCE folder first with "SOLD" and then "SOL" - removed everything coming up, except some SoL-ship textures
-unzipped the b14_alpha8_wip2_pirate_kk.7z file

I am sure I did something wrong somewhere, although SuperDurnius got the same screen as I (while Short Jack appearently got it right - you and he get similar testresponses)

I will now reinstall everything, only this time I will include B14A6update2 in the installation process (like I initially did and got the game working).

It wont Goin to me. I try it but nothin happen. So what can i do, to roam with the pearl?

Strange. That does sound like it should work. Agh. Enough confusement for today. See you all tomorrow. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Yeah, but dont worry. I just installed it all over again like described, only with that minor exception "update2" in the end of B14A6.
Running smooth, even better that before. The Redmond shipyard causes no crashes anymore, soldiers in the harbour, random citizens offering wisdom and treasure-maps, hiring officers works. Also, port -> deck -> sea -> map works fine for me (also the other way around).

Bugs found: Dialogue with the guvernor´s wife is missing, the dialogue with the harbourmaster is missing (Rys Bloom quest affected) I recall a spinning coint icon while loading in my first attempt on B14WIP2/pirate_kk (8/kk from now on), now I only got the normal one. No CTD´s experienced while in Redmond or Port-du-Pret.

Minor glitches found: There is a cannon in the harbourmaster´s bed, some citizens have their faces shown as skeletons (dead) in the upper left corner icon.
Additionally, a ship available in the shipyard has no "classtag" on it (or whatever it is called, in example light brig).

I would like to try to fix some of the bugs myself, especially the dialogues. I think I am up for it.
