Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3 Progress

Thanks. I'll change it to "1" because I personally always find it annoying to be interrupted on the worldmap unless there are actual enemies involved.
 
I just downloaded and installed the latest WIP dated 17 April 2013, and it installed and plays. At the end I got a message saying the engine.ini or option files are missing but they are not missing.
Turns out the installer EXE was running the Config.exe with the wrong target directory due to the way I had written the code.
This ensured you would ALWAYS get to see that message, even if it wasn't true. I think I figured out how to prevent this properly.
Additionally, I am now including a default "options" file to ensure it is never missing.

I am now uploading a new version with these changes made, so we'll see if that prevents that crazy error in the future.

I don't know where to post this, so I'll post here. If it isn't, please remove it and let me know.

Yesterday i was playing standard storyline on Beta 3.1 with my Arcadia Xebec, and in Nevis (Pirate settlement port) I saw that there was a storm. Interestingly, the storm doesn't inflict you damage, but when you pass to the next hour, then the storm starts again, but this time making you damage. I wanted to use direct sail to Puerto Rico; three seconds after the change of hour and the beggining of the storm, i passed from Nevis to Puerto Rico. This caused that the a storm was during and entire hour o_O (12:00-13:00). When again i passed another hour, antoher storm started, but this time, it lasted only 20 minutes. With that extrange things on the weather, i managed to have from 2 on sailing to 6 :p

Anyway, why this things happen? I don't want to have an entire hour fighting against a storm (the ships around puerto rico sunk because of the storm, a.k.a. Hand of God) xD
 
I've got no clue why that happens. Were you also "locked in" the storm? What I have seen before is that you will get that "roll angle" thing without there actually being a storm.
Or at least, without you taking damage and being "locked in". That was quite odd, to say the least. :shock

Rule of thumb. As soon as you get out of a storm go into the world map, wait a bit, and then go back to direct sail. If you do not do that you will be caught in one storm after the other until you sink.

could you please make a bug report of this and describe it as detailed as possible what your experience with it is. If I'm going to look at the storms I might be able to look at this too.
 
I think it has something to do with the "ballast" value that, if there is already a storm, can either make it gradually worse or make it gradually better.
However, that ballast value can change slowly itself as well. So if there is a lot of wind, it is easier for the storm to die down, then start again, then die down, then start again.

On another note: I'm currently re-uploading the WIP version, with some good new stuff included.
It managed to get a fair bit bigger in the process.... :oops:

Special stuff: ALL books now readable plus a completely new ship, the Polacca.
 
The ship interface? Are those the little pics you see in the shipyard? The ones I sent you are only about 10-12kb each. Their full size originals are only 110-120kb.
 
But probally they are in larger files ;).
Ah well it only takes about 20 seconds to download so no problem :).

Yep, that's the ones. As Levis says, they're grouped in four large files of 21 MB each.
 
She is still a WIP but is pretty close. Ya, maybe a thread in the modeling forum is a good idea.

I did not require a saved game. A few questions, what does it mean that perks are locked? How do they get unlocked? Second, I the perk multiplier to 0 and locked perks to 0 and stated a new game and nothing changed so it doesn't appear to me that that is working. 3rd, I always play stormy start and this time when I started I was accompanied by a crew member. That is new for me I had to the ship and ask them to join me on shore.

Any advice would be helpful.
 
1. Locked perks mean you have to do something special before being able to get certain Abilities.

2. Perks get unlocked in various ways. On Apprentice and Journeyman difficulty level, there will be a hint in the ability description.

3. I just tried PERK_MULTIPLIER and ALLOW_LOCKED_PERKS on 0, but that all worked as advertised.
You may have to Reinitialize with F11 or Start a New Game.

4. A crewmember on a Stormy Start BEFORE you told any of them to follow you? :shock
