Captain Python's POTC Movies Thread

The crew and cast are all returning to start filming again:

Pirates of the Caribbean is more fun than Cutthroat Island. But I pretty much like Cutthroat Island as well. Especially the music in that movie. That's the one thing in Cutthroat Island that is MUCH better than PotC. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Is it just me or does Sparrow say 'Bugger' in that trailer? Rather a naughty word to include in a film ad methinks...jolly good trailer though...'specially the bit about Elizabeth and her clothing.

I thought he was going to be in the sequels? According to IMDB he's listed as playing Barbossa in both sequels. Makes more sense to be in Dead Man's Chest though I suppose...since if Will Turner's dead father appears then why not other more recently deceased fellows.

I'm mourning the lack of Murtog and Mullroy in the sequels...they were a funny pair.

It's certainly not the rudest of expletives in the English language but it isn't the kind of thing I would expect to see on a TV programme before 9pm in UK, and so odd to be put on a film trailer for general release. I wonder whether Americans see the word differently...after the whole Janet Jackson superbowl thing I gather they have taken an almost puritanical approach to rude words etc.
'Tis possible it isn't considered as rude outside the UK though, afterall in Australia the term 'Bloody' used as an expletive isn't considered rude unlike over here (UK advertising watchdog complained about an australian tourism advert with the line 'So where the bloody hell are you?' For the record I swear like a trooper (or a pirate)...though of course I do it deliberately and eloquently...

Sorry Mates, I haven't been keeping updated. I have been busy with other things like User Content and the Age of Sail and Piracy '101' Project. If anyone wants to take it over, your welcome to it. Make a new thread if you want to. Honestly, I stopped updating this thread due to it was becoming sort of boring to track small bits of news that didn't mean much. I also have a thread over at the Pirates of the Burning Sea forums (see the Off Topic forum) if you want to keep that updated. I think I will just wait for the movie.
 
I won't be keeping track of small bits of news, but if there is any big news, such as a new trailer being released, I will post it here (unless somebody else does). Now that I am a moderator, I could add the most recent news to your first post. Do you want me to do that?

<b>Go See This Movie!!!</b>

Yes, it's full of "callbacks" to jokes from the first flick (that's what makes it funny!). Yes, there are hints of the "Empire Strikes Back" formula (that's what pulls at your heartsrings). Yes, Hans Zimmer plunders heavily, and <i>effectively</i>, from Klaus Baldelt's original score. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!

It's a moral imperitave for those who saw the first film. I'd dare say it's better than the first film. The character development is better, the interplay is better, and the effects are better! GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!
 
Just back from watching PotC2 and I enjoyed it alot. My cinema highlight of this year. Now I can't wait for the 3rd movie (darn cliffhangers).

Oh and stay after the (very long) credits. A small scene follows.

In the end, maybe not as good as PotC1, but very close (I would say they are almost at the same level).

Go and watch it. Anyone who don't like the movie is a Ninja! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />
