Captain Python's POTC Movies Thread

I saw the movie on the 8th, and loved it. I've heard some griping from other viewers about a weak stroyline in DMC, but I beg to differ. It's a trilogy in the making, now that that is established, the plot will jump around a lot and ask questions that go un answered. PotC 3's job is to fill that in and finish the series.

I've looked around at the stuff about 3, and this is what I got. Sorry is this is a repeat.

- 2 possible titles: At World's End or Uncharted Waters. I think it will be Uncharted Waters. Sounds more piratey.
- Basic plot: Barbossa, Will, Elizabeth, and the crew go to find Jack and the <i>Pearl</i>. I wonder what ship they will use... *evil grin* Once they muster up "the courage and fortitude to follow orders and stay true in the face of danger and almost certain death" and rescue Jack, they probably go to Port Royal to free it from Lord Beckett and <i>Admiral</i> Norrington's grip. The EITC has made an alliance with a fleet of Chinese pirates and have forced Davy Jones to serve with them or be killed. (Remember, Beckett has the heart.)

There has got to be a HUGE final battle with over 10 ships. Norrington and Beckett are bound to have several lineships, the <i>Dutchman</i>, and several Junks.

I wonder is Jack will become commodore of the <i>Flying Dutchman</i> with Barbossa in the <i>Pearl</i>...

I also wonder if Will and Elizabeth will have relationship problems. She might not have told Will why she kissed Jack, or maybe Will doesn't think of why she would.

@Commodore John Paul Jones:

You should put a big SPOILER WARNING!!! in front of your post, mate. Some people who reaad this thread might have not watched the movie yet.

It isnt out in holland yet, we must wait 3 more days <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

There aren't any spoilers. The only details that I mentioned were seen in the trailer as well. All the details about 3 are just rumors floating about.

Rumours or no rumours, some people avoid reading rumours and don't know them. Its just a courtasy to say that you're posting possible spoilers.

I'm not bashing you or anything. Just saying it.

I understand, I'll post SPOILER WARNING if I think that is necessary, though everyone seemed eager to read as much as possible about DMC <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

"norrington becomes admiral again"
Never was, he was Commodore, then Ex-Commodore, hopefully Admiral! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> (I know I'm rooting for "the wrong guy".) Beckett has what heart? Whos? Or maybey I mean he has a kind heart. You don't know for sure, and If you do already know, then you knew before it was posted... Confusion... confusion.

What I like about 3 is that we don't have to wait 4 years for it! Next May!!!

Somebody about The Flying Dutchman in PotC 2: "If a ship is called the Flying Dutchman, I expect it to be Dutch and flying, not English and submersible."
LOL! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Disney really twisted the Flying Dutchman for the movie. From what I remember of the legend, the Flying Dutchman was a collective name for both the ship and it's captain. Cursed to sail the seas forever and never make port, and doom or bad luck to any ship that saw her.
Maybe one of the Dutchmen on the forum can elaborate on the Flying Dutchman legend, and where exactly it originated from?

In Wikipedia I found something about the "Flying Dutchman" and his origin.
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flying_Dutchman" target="_blank">Flying Dutchman</a>

That Wikipedia text seems about correct. One thing it doesn't seem to mention is that The Flying Dutchman had IRON yardarms instead of wood ones. It was said that the captain, Van Der Decken was in league with the devil, which explained why his ship was so fast. But he got into a storm near Cape Horn and it seemed to take forever for him to round the Horn. He then swore to God that he'd round Cape Horn no matter what, even if it'd take him until the end of times to do it. And then God cursed him to try rounding Cape Horn forever, without ever getting any closer. That is why the Flying Dutchman is only ever seen near the Horn.

It seems that God was more hardcore in the old times <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
