    It just occurred to me...

I could "try", but first I need to learn "how"... hehe. You are right, however, in that the Victory was not the very "biggest" of sailing vessels (in fact, there were several larger than she even at Trafalgar... even amongst her own British columns). The fact that she was a `first-rate` at all...

    Cool ship names

Hehe... my terrier "loves" his hedgehogs! Grrr! As for me, I sail a frigate - the "Budgie Bite". I was tempted to keep what'`s-his`-name's flag galleon, but found the frigate to handle better - yet boast `near-equal` firepower. Besides, a `smaller-size` frigate was perhaps the limit of what...

It says here in the manual... that your Pirates! disc will make a "vastly" superior coaster if you scratch it up on the surface a...

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> If you haven't a good cannoneer early on, you may as well use tartans to sieze small merchants like luggers and barques. The tartane only...

    Whats MM?

That's funny... I always thought that MM meant "Merchant Marine", which I found odd seeing as how the MM ships too often looked fiercer and carried heavier guns... hehe... and seeing as the Xebec is one of the game's faster ships - I had assumed that BR meant something like "Blockade Runner".

It just occurred to me... (as posted in "The Blind Parr

...when thinking of "dates" in history, that this year (late October) should be exactly the 200th aniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. Anybody feel like making a commemorative HMS Victory skin for the `Man-of`-War in POTC? Hehe... cheers! Oh yeah... and, "England expects that every man will do...

IDEA - Importing the ships from Sea Dogs?

I was just thinking... I still play the original Sea Dogs, since I too often find the "Hollywood" aspect of POTC irritating (this is, let's face it, a game based more on a "movie" than on real pirate "history"). To me, the ship models in Sea Dogs are not too far behind those of POTC in detail...

    What's a pinnace?

:cheers Argh!! The Pinnace of course can ~seem~ slow from a fast warship, but I think it is actually the fastest "merchant" class ship in the game. It is also ~far~ more maneouverable than the fleut, caravel, or galleon, although it's weak gun armament can be a bit of a handicap. Nonetheless...

    What's a pinnace?

For the most part, the "basics" of the ships represented in POTC (given your time period) are ~fairly~ accurate. Wooden ships took an awfully long time to build, and hence their life/service spans were equally impressive. Some wooden `ships-of`-`the-line`, for instance, served for centuries...

    What's a pinnace?

The ships in POTC are certainly not accurately labelled - For one, the term "galleon" (in real life) applied to a ~vast~ array of ships dating as far back as the Mary Rose of King Henry VIII. Typically thus, this term inspires visions of lumbering, slow, but `heavily-armed` and ornately...
