Mod Release Build 14 Beta 3 Progress

Oh back here after a few days with other stuff. What are the instructions for opening those period costumes?
See this thread: http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/period-specific-character-models.21027/

On graphics what editors or programs do u guys use?
Any program that can edit TGA files will do, combined with the TX Converter"http://piratesahoy.net/build/tools/Modeling+Texturing/TX Convertor.zip

Last update I downloaded and have been playing was the one uploaded on 6 September. Would updating to the most current one require a new game? If it wouldn't, I suppose at the least there would be incompatibilities but would they be game-breaking? I'd hate to start over, but I want to provide feedback.
If you had the 4 Sep version or earlier, you'd need to start a new game. But if you have 6 Sep, you're good.
There is nothing game-breaking that requires a new game; it is just required for some graphical and balancing stuff.
Some of it might be activated if you just press F11 on your savegame; that's worth a try. :yes

Just tried it again. Swapped ships in the shipyard this time. Everything works except raising and lowering the sails, and I hit the W and S keys dozens of times.
Problem found. Your companion had the "Ship.Sink" attribute and once you swap ships, you get it due to the SwapAttributes.
You are prevented from using your sails in that case. So I added some code to clear that attribute from all your companions when you load to sea.
Seems to have solved the problem and I can think of no way that might cause different ill effects. So.... should be fixed now. :cheeky

Finally installed all im testing again. Let me see how can i help? On graphics what editors or programs do u guys use?

You want to mess around with costumes? Here is a site where the tools are stored.

To look at characters you want TOOL, GMViewer, and TX Convertor. It also helps if you are using XP.

That fleut had a ship.sink attribute? It was never close to sinking. I charged right in and boarded her.

There is something odd going on with the merchants. When I look in the "colonies" interface they show one set of prices that is based on my commerce level, but when I actually get into the store the prices are based on someone with a commerce skill of 1.

I sold that fleut because I thought it might be a ship related problem but it is not. I sold my last ship and bought 2 new ones and this problem is still here. Look at the prices for ebony. All prices are like that.

Also, there are no more treasure quests at all. The only treasure quest I ever got was to Guadaloupe, which can not be done in this time period. This quest is still active, and that be the cause of no more treasure quests?

The captain had that attribute. Possibly this was due to an old and dead character being reused and NPCs seem to have no trouble if they DO have that attribute, so nobody ever noticed.
Until it makes its way to the player where it is now occasionally used. Should be fixed with the next update though.

Could it be that the prices changed between the time you last updated the prices by going to that store and returning to actually sell some stuff there?
After you visited that Havana store the second time, did the prices update to match with the store interface? That is what is supposed to be happening, at least.

Problems like that can only ever be linked to the character. But if you put in another character, it swaps their attributes so the problem persists.

Indeed you can't get a Treasure Quest if you already have one active. Execute these lines through console to just close that one:
Code:
          CloseQuestHeader("treasure");   // close the entry

           DeleteAttribute(PChar, "required_item");
           DeleteAttribute(PChar, "treasureloc");

About prices: I was in the store and scanned the prices. Went to the colonies interface and scanned the prices. Tried to sell goods in the store and saw those prices.
This is consistent all over the Caribbean. I have seen this time after time after time, but have never ever seen this until the last 2-3 days. This was one of the reasons I sold that fleut yesterday.
Are you saying that I have this price problem because one or more of my officers has a problem? I have no officers with a bad commerce skill.

Treasure quests! Since trading is now a losing proposition maybe I can make some money this way.

I've put it on the To-Do list. *sigh*

No, no; I was still talking about the Setting Sails problem.

Sorry about that. I deliberately destabilized this desktop to a level like a no maintenance puter would have to see how POTC runs and, sure enough, all sorts of strange things happened. It's back to stable now.

That treasure quest is still there but now the description is for San Salvador and Sandy Point. I wonder what I'll find there? :pirates

Don't know if its some bug or its part of the quest. In the default natthaniel(iv made custom player) i get a quest to take some trader to some island(maybe curacao)some portuguese captain called peire or peitxe.Im not sure what happened(maybe the quest expired no idea)but when i moored by some shore by la grenade,i visited the deck of their ship scorpion(fancy its not a portugee name try escorpion or alacran)the captain peixe or peire said he was like impressed by me or for some reason he said now we will follow you as captain and said something like my ship you can find by the shore dont know where? But actually i was on board his ship and he was the captain. The ship follows me all over but i can't sell it or buy supplies for it or pretty much but as any companion ship from some trader quest,however i cna order that captain like any officer and the crew answer as my crew and i can do anything i do with the chests and hold in the ship. No idea what's on? Maybe some lucky bug of sorts.

Rather than starting with making new period characters, I'd suggest starting with just disabling the ones that don't look right in certain periods.
Make sure that what we've got appears right instead of starting something new. Much easier, right? :wp

Uh? Sounds strange. Do you have crewmembers (NOT officers) following you ashore?
Part of what you says reminds me of that mod.

Ah game installed properly and loaded well,all ship and town graphics are as supposed and im impressed at the quality of graphics from last time i played years back. Yes peter you were right i had missing loads of graphic textures and stuff,however the game did load and work pretty well with out this which is weird. Thanks for ur advice. The way i did it> Game i put in c:games/POTC i put install folders in my document and installed succesfully from there,that is for all who have windows 7 or 8. I had put the UAC down just in case. Game for now working well.

Yes i have! Thought it might clash. Cos iam quite a low level and need my bodyguards lol!! Iv made some my officers until i find some good ones.
If you enable that mod, not only do you get extra escorts, you ALSO draw extra attention. So you get all sorts of encounters you wouldn't otherwise.
I never got around to playing with that mod on, but there is something related to random captains you can encounter.

That sounds like one of the escort missions. They are indeed messed up, with most of them not working. What you do when you do an escort mission and the Captain does not meet you on the dock at the destination is:

Go to his ship and meet him in his cabin. He will be talking gibberish so kill him and then go back to your ship. That will end the escort mission at no cost to you.

I went to Sandy Point and there was nothing there. But I still have that quest!

WHAT??? I fixed the ones I know to be broken weeks ago and asked several times if there are any other troublesome ones.
If you know of any towns that STILL don't work, let me know! I was under the impression this was now fixed. For real.

I went to Sandy Point and there was nothing there. But I still have that quest!
Did you execute the code I told you to? If it worked, the red X will no longer be on your map and you can accept new quests again.

You fixed the escort missions? :facepalm Well, that is what it sounds like although Dylan of Gibraltar is very hard for me to understand.

I put that code in the console and hit F12 lotsa times but nothing changed. :shrug

You did put it below:
Code:
void ExecuteConsole()
{
   ref pchar = GetMainCharacter();
   if (!bSeaActive) ref lcn = &Locations[FindLocation(pchar.location)];
   ref ch;
   int i;
   int limit;
Did you? Something should DEFINITELY happen.

You fixed the escort missions? :facepalm
Most certainly did. Weeks ago. It's been noted on the Changelog too. :shrug
There were only a few specific towns bugged: Antigua, Port au Prince and Alice Town. I fixed those and they now work fine.
If there are other bugged towns, let me know.

Well, that is what it sounds like although Dylan of Gibraltar is very hard for me to understand.
Sounds like the Land Crewmembers are involved too. Somehow.
Anyway, I'll make a note to get rid of that escort quest gibberish. It is because a storyline dialog file is used for them for some bizarre reason.
