Hi, I must be a bit of a dummy.
No matter how I extract those files I still get V3.1.5 at the opening screen, and I was never asked to overwrite files (except on further attemtps).
The game still runs under 3.1.5 so I don`t think I`ve wrecked it, though I guess as was pointed out, an installer could help people like me with limited understanding on these matters.
Looking forward to starting a new game, with the fixes you guys have worked hard to make a better experience for all.
On a side note I did stop playing at around lvl 20, from memory, on V3.1.5 because my health just would`nt recover to full no matter how long I rested, or continued on for a couple of months without combat. Though when I posted, back then about this, the responses were you should get back to full health.

@ jhayron
Here is an explanatiion of how the different calibures work. You will see that culverines have a better distance over cannons for the same calibure but culverines do not have a calibure above 32Ibs which is when cannons have a much higher appeal for people who like to sit out far and fire at there enemies. Also to have the full effect of firing at distance i would suggest firing from automatic rather than aiming yourself as there is a problem that needs fixing because the target indicator doesn't change red to show you have targeted a ship.

Cannons
4 = 300
8 = 400
12 = 500
16 = 600
20= 700
24 = 800
28= 900
32 = 1000
36 = 1100
42 = 1200 (for large ships like MOW's only)
48 = 1300 (for quest ships only)
92 = 1400 (for forts only)

Culverines
4 = 400
8 = 500
12 = 600
16 = 700
20= 800
24 = 900
28= 1000
32 = 1100

In short a culverines has the distance the cannon calibure above the culverine. 4Is culverine = 400 yards a 8Ibs cannon reaches 400 yards. But the downfall is culverines take longer to load and weigh more

As for speed, there was a update made where the wind speed was realistic, so you can have 0 wind or 0.X and your ship doesn't move. This has been updated for the next mod where you can use a switch to choose between realistic wind speeds or stock wind speeds, the differences been stock wind speeds will never have the wind drop to the point that you can't move. If you use the + and - keys on the num pad you can increase game speed to X6 when in battle and X8 when not.

You guy's have downloaded this version from the first page of this topic?

CMV3.2 Full Mod

If not then that will be your problem. As for not been asked if you wish to overwrite anything is a problem, When you install CMV3.2 its simple to copy and paste the programs folder to the game directory overwriting the old programs folder and the same for the resources folder. The game should show as CMV3.2 at the start, these changes do require a new game. If the problem continue's my tip would be to uninstall COAS and delete all files and folders remaining in the games directory then reinstall COAS followed by CMV3.2 (no need to inst because CMV3.2 has all previous files and folders from CMV3.1.5 included).

Thnx Luke,
The download has 4 folders, Read me, Modules, Program and Resousce. I unzipped the lot to desktop. If I move those folders to the corresponding game directory ie modules folder to the dir modules folder, and then I check those folders, the 3.2.0 folders are within the game folders, thats all. Without having to open every folder to the end from V3.2.0 and finding the corresponnding place in the game directory, how can I get this to work?
Redownloading the game from gg now, though I`ll wait for a clearer explanation on what to do before I try adding v3.2.0 again.

Swordbane when you copy for example the programs folder from CMV3.2 and paste it into COAS directry you will be asked if you wish to overwrite the previous folders and files. I'm not sure which operating system your using but for Vista and perhaps Windows 7 it can be a little tricky. XP is much more simple but it takes a little longer for the mode to be installed. I'm still getting use to Vista so i can't explain in great detail so i will leave that to someone with better understanding to explain to you. But basically with XP you was asked once if you wish to overwrite pre existing files and folders, Vista doesn't do that in less you tell it. Example when you paste folders from CMV3.2 to the main directory you will be asked if you wich to overwrite the folders, you will see a little check box. Checking that will tell Vista to repeate this for all folders rather than ask you each and everytime it comes across a folder that already exists. Then when it finds a file that already exists it will ask you if you wish to overwrite in its terms is coopy and paste or ignore. Again a little check box can be found in the bottom right, checking this will tell Vista to overwrite all files that are the same. You then need to (on the same page) select the copy and paste otherwise or ignore, obviously you want it to replace all files so select copy and paste. As long as you have checked the boxes you shouldn't be asked if you wish to overwrite or not again. Sorry if my explaining is bad, hopoefully someone will explain that more indepths and easier than i have. For Windows 7 i would expect its very similar but less complicated.

If you have to keep downloading the game i would suggest making a folder on the desktop called COAS or something like that and then copy and paste the intire COAS game directy to that folder and use this new folder for your madded game. This way you don't have to download the game again should anything go wrong.

I did`nt expect to get such a quick response (just finnished re-installing), thanks again Luke.
Yeah, I run Win 7 64. I was just dragging, I`ll try copy/paste and see if that works.

LOL, no problem bud. :onya

I alway's use copy and paste because i don't have to extract the mod again should i make a mistake when installing anything. You will find it easier to select all the folders in CMV3.2 IE, Modules, Programs, Reasources etc and paste them over the ones in the main directory or the new locatiiong for the modded game version (i have COAS vanilla installed in the normal place and a folder called modified games on the desktop which has any games i have modded in) At the moment thats COAS, the vanilla game files and folders are alway's going to remain as vanilla so i don't have to reintstall the game because it takes forever to do. Hopefully you have success this time and can play CMV3.2 as its a great update to CMV3.1.5.

Sorry Luke, no joy. Same again.
I just tried copy/paste the modules folder to the game directory modules folder. When I open up the game directory modules folder, theres the v3.2.0 modules folder plus vanilla. So the only way I can see to get the v3.2.0 modules folder content to the game directory modules folder is to drag the 2 .dll files over to the game directory modules folder. But if I have to do that for every single subfolder....
It`s probably somthing simple I`m doing wrong, tho I just can`t understand how to get say the v3.2.0 resourse folder`s content to go to all the individual sub directories within the game directory resource folder.
PS. If you`re using Vista, should try Win 7, believe it`s the best windows op now.

Edit: I`ll make a new topic on this so this sticky does`nt get clogged over this. Though the solution should be here too.

Did you make a new directory for the game on the desktop?

If you did not then i suggest doing that this time and using it to install CMV3.2, i have a feeling its Windows 7, i know on Vista you can copy to the directory and not overwrite anything maybe you get the same option for Windows 7, before accepting anything make sure it doesn't say anything about copying folders and files but not overwriting originals. It might even be a option thats been disabled somehow i don't know never used Windows 7 let alone a X64 bit os.

A small update for 3.2 has been released, this is mostly to fix the ships with the cannon bug. It also puts back in place a mod that was removed which might explain why shot types, medicine, weapons and powder are hard to find. I will be testing this to see if it does or not. :onya

Updated added to first post, this is a update not the full mod. So those who do not have CMV3.2 installed please download and install CMV3.2 followed by CMV3.2 Fixes 1.2. :onya

Thanks!

I quit the peter blood game, being a member of a nation makes the game too easy. Then I went pirate and I was having to travel between the two pirate bases to try and drum up enough basic supplies and it was killing me. I'm glad I checked back here.

GG Luke!

Something to wet your appetites. ;)

Yeah, there are many problems with the weapons in 3.2, lots of pictures are mixed up among other things. These problems have been addressed in GoF! 1.0.
