New Location-specific Loading Screens

Awesome. If you use Alpha 8 WIP 1, use F9 to hide the interface when you make the screenshot. Also see <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?s=&showtopic=11464&view=findpost&p=242019" target="_blank">here</a> for the screenshots we already have.

We still need to get this done, people. Anybody willing to work on this? It's really easy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Heh, that guy "gimme a day or two and i will bring you a pile of loadingscreenies" was soon to disappear.
When I get WIP2 up and running, I will of course upload some. And thats a promise as this is the easy part of modding.

Happens rather frequently; goes to show that people are lazy by nature. This is one of the easiest things to do and most of the screenshots we do have were made by people who actually have better things to do (me and Thomas the Terror). See <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?s=&showtopic=11464&view=findpost&p=242019" target="_blank">this</a> post for the screenshots we've already got.

Be sure to press F9 to hide the interface; that way you get a nice clean screenshot with no interface parts that'd need to be cut off. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

How many times do I need to re-ask this question before somebody starts work on it? It's NOT hard and might even be fun. You can put some creativity into making pretty shots as well and you get to sail around the entire archipelago in the game.

i think i've said this before. i'd do this, IF i'd be playing the game. and i don't, because it's so damn slow and crashy on my 'computer'.

I made new loading screens for some towns:
All the stock towns (except for Douwesen) + Havana and Santiago

Very nice!  <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Is the texturing on the pictures from Photoshop?

Yes it is. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Those look really nice Pieter! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Those are Thomas' work. Give credit where credit's due. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

Pirate_KK is going to try and make the loading screens into interfaces rather than just images. If he manages that, we can add text and scrolls of paper onto them through code, rather than putting them on the image. That would also mean that we could add the location name through code, so that the name is always correct, whether the Real Caribbean mod is on or off and whether you renamed the town yourself or not. Perhaps a real progress reload bar could even be made. But we would lose the turning cursed coin, unless somebody could make that into a WMV, which might actually be possible.

Doh! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> this is what comes from trying to post in the middle of the night. (and inebriated... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> )

Sorry Thomas! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ty" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> (Bad Mings, bad, bad! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/slap.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":slap" border="0" alt="slap.gif" /> )

Those textures look really good, Thomas! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbs1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2up" border="0" alt="thumbs1.gif" />

Is it Friday yet? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/beer2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":beer" border="0" alt="beer2.gif" />

LOL. I admit I <i>did</i> make some of the <i>screenshots</i> Thomas used. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

Fantastic! Hurray for Pirate_kk! This IS exactly what we need! I hope he will succed in doing that. To tell the truth, I had come to the same conclusion myself and I was even trying a few things (with no results) before I left three weeks ago.

This will solve a lot of problems, for sure. For example, there will be no needs in having heavy interfaces textures for each language, as all text would be added separatly. We can even add some extra text for quest reloads : "<i>A few hours later, all our friends meet back in the tavern...</i>" or things like that.

Exactly. It'd be BRILLIANT if he could make that to work! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
BTW: Could anyone create a WMV file from the Build 14 Alpha 8 progress.tga.tx file?

I'd like to inform that after a quite long periods of tryings and experiments I've finally managed to make loading screens as interfaces rather than standard fader. However, the two issues remained:
1. Since interfaces appear and disappear quickly, there isn't fade-in and fade-out phases. Originally the scene was dimnished and loading screen appeared after about half a second; when it disappeared there were similar transition. Now it appears and disappears immediately (as normal interfaces do) and I don't know if I'll manage to make it behave similarily to original system.
2. Cursor is visible. At least that one thing I'd be able to fix later.

Now I must make it working in entire game and implement some system to make use of new functionality (adding dynamic texts, pictures, videos and progress bar, etc.)

I'm busy with the SoFS translation and some other stuff I'm working on Pieter, but I'll try to knock out some of the screen shots for you as well.

Cap'n Drow

That's good news, Pirate_kk! So now loading screens can be managed as interface... it looks like the hardest part is over! I wish you the best luck to acheive all the remaining! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

issue n°2 isn't much of a problem.
